My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pettyluyah!

This adorable 1 year old male pup is ready to find his forever family and spend his days roaming, running, and (occasionally) relaxing with them! Pettyluyah is a young, active pup who loves nothing more than endless playtime and adventure with his favorite people. He is about 34 pounds so he is the perfect petite pup. This boy would be happiest in a home where adventure (and a tennis ball) is always just around the corner.

Pettyluyah can be a bit sensitive with new people. However, once he knows he can trust you to respect his boundaries, Pettyluyah transforms into a happy bouncing puppy ready to have fun and shower you with love. Due to his sensitive nature, Pettyluyah would likely do best in a more low-traffic home with moderate amounts of hustle and bustle. If his forever home has kiddos in it, those kiddos must be 10+ and able to understand his sensitive nature.

Pettyluyah shows potential to live with dogs in his forever home, however with his puppy energy he will need a slow introduction and direction in interacting with his potential canine companions. A slow intro will help ensure that both Pettyluyah and his potential pup pal feel safe and comfortable as they adjust to each other`s presence. He needs a home with no cats or other small animals, as they are very exciting to him!

Looking for a sweet and playful pup to add to your household? Stop by the Humane Society of Summit County today and meet Pettyluyah!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
