Topher entered San Diego Humane Society’s Oceanside campus as a stray. When he wasn't claimed, we welcomed him as a Frosted Face. Topher is estimated to be 14 years old, weighs 10 lbs., and is very sweet.
Topher went on a Frosted Field Trip, so we could learn more about him while he received lots of TLC in the comfort of a home. Thanks to his foster mom, we learned the following:
Topher loves nothing more than lounging in the sunshine, sniffing around the yard or park, and enjoying the fresh air. Even though he’s blind, he’s an impressive little navigator — confident, curious, and surprisingly quick when he wants to be! He walks well on a leash (see video) and had no trouble keeping up with a fast walking pace.
Topher also enjoyed stroller rides to the park, then happily hopped out to explore on foot. He’s very social and loves seeking out people for a friendly hello.
At home, Topher is calm and content. If he needs to go outside, he’ll simply sit by the back door. He slept soundly through the night (about 8pm to 6–7am) without needing a potty break. He’s not a big breakfast eater right away, but he’ll happily eat a couple hours later — and he enjoyed every food and treat offered, from canned meals to Fresh Pet.
Topher’s ideal day includes: sunshine, sniffing adventures, a few cozy naps, and plenty of love. He seems to know his name and responds well, despite not being able to see.
If you’re looking for a sweet, mellow companion, Topher may be the perfect fit!
