My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Wendy (a.k.a. Wendy Bird)!

Your personal emotional support cloud in soft grey stripes.

Wendy is a 1.5-year-old sweetheart with a calm, gentle spirit and a heart full of purrs. She’s the kind of cat who makes you slow down in the best way — she’ll curl beside you, blink lovingly, and remind you that peace is, in fact, possible.

She loves affection, enjoys her toys, and is absolutely delighted by anything catnip-related. (Seriously — the girl knows how to have a good time.) She’s mellow, confident, and gets along well with other cats. She’s not the dramatic, disappearing type — Wendy is brave, sociable, and will happily keep you company while you go about your day. Not in the way. Just… present. Like a supportive little coworker who clocks in for cuddles.

Wendy is also a treat connoisseur, especially when it comes to Temptations. She prefers dry food, appreciates routine, and always uses her litter box like the tidy, well-mannered queen she is.
And here’s a fun bonus: Wendy is smart. Like, teach-me-tricks smart. With patience and treats (mostly treats), she can learn nearly anything. She’d be a great companion for a laid-back home where love is given freely and chilling together is a respected life skill.

If you’re looking for a sweet, confident kitty who will bring calm, companionship, and just the right sprinkle of joy to your home…

Wendy Bird is ready to fly right into your heart.

More about this rescue

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
