My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Poya – about 5 Month Old Jindo Mix Pup Looking for Her Forever Home!

Basic Info

Name: Poya

Age: ~5 months

Sex: Female

Spayed: No

Breed: Jindo mix

Weight: 8kg

Height (shoulder): 35cm

Rescue Story: Found wandering near a pension and taken into the local shelter before being rescued.

Personality with People

Poya is an incredibly people-loving, social puppy. She warms up quickly even to strangers and welcomes guests as if she’s known them forever. During walks, she politely approaches people, sniffs gently, and often rolls over for belly rubs.

She can startle a little if someone unfamiliar reaches toward her too quickly in a busy environment, so a calm, slow approach helps her feel safe.

She can be picked up easily and even shows her belly to people she’s just met.

She hasn’t had experience with young children under 13.

Personality with Dogs

Poya LOVES other dogs—both familiar and unfamiliar. She approaches politely, greets with a sniff, and invites play when she feels comfortable.

She does best with dogs her size or smaller, and she tends to avoid dogs that are too rough or overly dominant.

If several dogs rush toward her at once, she may tense up for a moment, but she adapts quickly and soon joins the fun. Because she’s still a puppy, she especially enjoys energetic friends who can run and play with her.

Reaction to Cats & Wildlife

She observes birds quietly without trying to chase.

When she sees a cat, she may look out of curiosity but follows her handler calmly and does not lunge or pull.

Walking Style & Energy Level

Poya has a medium energy level and enjoys outdoor activity.

She LOVES walks and does well even around cars, buses, and city noise.

Like many young pups, she gets absorbed in sniffing and sometimes pulls the leash, but once guided, she quickly falls back in step.

In open fields or grassy areas, she loves running, exploring, and playing to her heart’s content.

In the Home

Poya rarely barks and has a very gentle, easygoing nature.

She enjoys toys—especially squeaky ones— and plays well on her own when she has extra energy.

She eats enthusiastically, so she currently uses a slow-feeder bowl.

Poya settles well in the car and can handle about 2 hours of travel comfortably, though she sometimes yawns a bit when she feels mild motion sickness.

Toilet Habits

• Perfect indoor pee-pad use

• Prefers doing #2 outside

• No resource guarding toward people or dogs

Training & Temperament

She’s smart, eager to please, and learns quickly.

She already knows sit, paw, down, and nose (“touch”).

When people stack their hands for a game, she likes to add her paw on top at the end—her adorable way of joining in!

She bonds deeply and follows her person around with gentle curiosity. In the morning, she’ll often be found curled up quietly beside you.

Poya in a Nutshell

A sweet, gentle, people-loving puppy who is curious, quick to learn, and full of affection.

She adapts fast, makes friends easily, and shows more charm the longer you spend with her.

Poya is ready to bring warmth, joy, and playful energy to a loving forever home.

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.

Our dog rescue work depends on our flight volunteers. They help us safely bring our dogs from Korea to Vancouver or Toronto airports, where the dogs will find loving forever or foster homes.
