Meet Chester! This beautiful 1-2 year old boy found himself wandering the weary streets of San Antonio as a stray with his sister "Busterella" in early October 2025. He has proven to be a sweetheart of a dog, fun, energetic and would love an active lifestyle in Colorado full of hiking, running, and playing with other dogs.
Chester is currently living in a boarding facility in San Antonio, Texas, awaiting an adopter or open foster home in San Antonio or Colorado. Please bring this boy into a home for the holidays.
Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa.
Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio.

Submit foster application if you only wish to foster, and an adoption application if you wish to adopt or foster with the intent of adoption
Meet the Pet
After your app is submitted, we will reach out to have a conversation and schedule a time for you to meet the pet
Approve Application
If you decide to move forward after the meet and greet we will officially approve your application
Take the Pet Home
After your app is approved, we will complete foster or adoption paperwork and you will take the pet home
