My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Santa Paws was brought in by a community member on November 19, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Santa Paws! Santa Paws is here to bring cheer all year long-no holidays required. This big, jolly pup is bursting with energy, excitement, and that signature "North Pole mischief." He's always ready to dash through the... well, anywhere! Santa Paws could use a refresher on all his basic training. He's a young guy who needs a family ready to guide him, help him learn good manners, and keep that busy brain working. When he gets excited, he can jump up and be a bit mouthy, so if there are kids in the home, they should be over the age of 10 and respectful. Santa Paws would thrive in a home that can give him plenty of physical activity and mental enrichment - he's basically a one-dog sleigh team. He can also be a little reactive with other canines, so it's important to be able to manage this behavior. If you're up for the fun, he's dreaming of a place where he can grow, learn, and spread his unique brand of festive chaos. Come meet Santa Paws today - don't forget a leash and a collar! He can't wait to jingle all the way home with you.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
