WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Smarties
BREED: Maltese x Poodle
DOB: Jun 28, 2025 (16 weeks)
GENDER: male
Home Recommendation: Smarties will need a family home more often than not to spend time working on his puppy training and socialization.
Personality: Sweet, loving, playful, and full of curiosity- Smarties is the complete full package. He loves spending time with his people and doggy friends and will happily greet everyone with a wagging tail.
KIDS: Yes
DOGS: Yes he is currently being fostered with one and they love to play together!
CATS: Yes
Training: Potty training is a work in progress, but hes learning quickly with consistency and routine. This smart boy is eager to please and making steady progress every day.
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Smarties were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
