My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by their previous owner on October 24, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Ky, a 9-year-old devoted companion with a big heart and an even bigger desire to bond with his people. Ky is affectionate, loyal, and quick to form deep connections with those he trusts. He enjoys exploring on walks, loves spending time with his human friends, and thrives in a calm, predictable environment where he can relax and feel secure. Ky is looking for an only-dog home where he won't need to navigate close contact with other dogs. While he has shown appropriate social behavior with some dogs in the past, close-quarters encounters-like elevators or narrow walkways-can be overwhelming for him and lead to reactive moments. Adopters should be mindful of choosing quiet walking routes and avoiding tight spaces with other dogs. With proper walking equipment, space, and support, Ky can be a wonderful companion. This sweet boy is friendly with people of all ages, eager for affection, and ready to bond deeply with someone who understands his needs. If you can offer Ky a peaceful home, patience, and the chance to be your one-and-only, he'll return your love with unwavering loyalty.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
