Mikka is a 7-month-old spayed female Corgi mix with a beautiful tan and dark brown coat and a heart that’s just waiting to feel safe. This sweet girl can be a little shy with new people at first, but with patience, kindness, and a few tasty treats, she blossoms into the most loving companion.
Food and treats are definitely the way to Mikka’s heart! Once she trusts you, she’ll happily climb into your lap and smother you with kisses, proving just how affectionate she truly is. She also enjoys playing with stuffed toys and has a playful, puppy side that shines through as her confidence grows.
Mikka is still learning her basic manners, including leash skills and commands, and she may feel unsure in new environments. She’ll do best with a family willing to go at her pace, offer gentle guidance, and celebrate her progress as she adjusts.
When it comes to other dogs, Mikka can sometimes be a little bossy in a “I don’t want to share” kind of way—but not aggressive. Because of this, meet and greets are required if there are other dogs in the home to ensure a good fit.
Mikka would do best in a home with older children who can understand and respect her boundaries. She is not recommended for homes with young children who may have difficulty reading her body language.
If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate pup who just needs someone to believe in her, Mikka is ready for the perfect family to give her that chance. With love, patience, and treats, she’ll reward you with endless kisses and loyalty.

More about this shelter
The Colony Animal Services strives to protect andTCAS LOGO-UPDATED nurture The City of The Colony’s lost, homeless, abused, injured, and sick pets. We seek to provide animals the opportunity to be reclaimed, adopted, rehabilitated, or rescued. It is the mission for the Animal Service Officers and volunteers to pursue a positive synergy and to serve the citizens and pets of The Colony.
Animal Services is committed to saving each and every animal that comes into our care. Over the last few years, we have improved our live release rate to 97%. We hold our standards high at keeping this percentage, and in doing so, we ask our rescue partners and citizens to help us pursue finding our animals forever homes.
Every year, we get over a hundred injured and sick animals that need our help. In order for us to help them, we use our donated medical fund to give them the proper care and treatment they need. The only way for us to provide this needed medical care is through our generous financial donors. Every penny donated is sent to our medical fund. Please help us continue this much needed medical care for our animals by donating. Even if you cannot donate, it is a huge help to share posts on social media.
