Peanut is a 1.5-year-old Retriever/Pug mix with a soft tan coat and an even softer heart. This sweet girl can be reserved at first, but with a calm, patient person by her side, she begins to show her gentle and loving nature.
Peanut does well with other dogs, though a meet and greet is required for any pets in the home to ensure everyone is comfortable. She would do best in a quiet household without young children, as lots of noise and high energy can be overwhelming for her.
She is still learning the ropes when it comes to leash skills and basic commands, but Peanut is highly food motivated, making training a great way to help her gain confidence and trust. With positive reinforcement and consistency, she has so much potential to shine.
Peanut is a sweet, sensitive soul looking for a peaceful home where she can feel secure, loved, and encouraged to come out of her shell. If you’re someone who believes the best bonds are built with patience and kindness, Peanut may be your perfect match.

More about this shelter
The Colony Animal Services strives to protect andTCAS LOGO-UPDATED nurture The City of The Colony’s lost, homeless, abused, injured, and sick pets. We seek to provide animals the opportunity to be reclaimed, adopted, rehabilitated, or rescued. It is the mission for the Animal Service Officers and volunteers to pursue a positive synergy and to serve the citizens and pets of The Colony.
Animal Services is committed to saving each and every animal that comes into our care. Over the last few years, we have improved our live release rate to 97%. We hold our standards high at keeping this percentage, and in doing so, we ask our rescue partners and citizens to help us pursue finding our animals forever homes.
Every year, we get over a hundred injured and sick animals that need our help. In order for us to help them, we use our donated medical fund to give them the proper care and treatment they need. The only way for us to provide this needed medical care is through our generous financial donors. Every penny donated is sent to our medical fund. Please help us continue this much needed medical care for our animals by donating. Even if you cannot donate, it is a huge help to share posts on social media.
