My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Lily was brought in by a community member on 12/14/2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Lily is a sweet and gentle dog who is looking for a patient and understanding home where she can feel safe and loved. She can be fearful, especially in new environments or around new people, and will need time to warm up at her own pace. With calm guidance, consistency, and kindness, Lily has the potential to build confidence and form strong bonds with her people.
Her ideal home would be one that understands fearful dogs and is willing to give her the space, time, and reassurance she needs to adjust. Once Lily feels comfortable, she shows her softer, loving side and enjoys quiet companionship.
Lily would thrive with adopters who are committed to going slow, celebrating small progress, and providing a stable routine to help her feel secure. With patience and love, Lily can blossom into a wonderful, loyal companion.

At SDHS:
Lily has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Lily is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
