Beignet is a 3-year-old, 58.6-lb boy with a gentle, sensitive nature. He is getting more confident and comfortable by the day, and we are starting to see his sweet and wiggly personality. Beignet does well on the leash, and is proud to show off his “sit” for a treat. He’s very attentive to his person and checks in throughout his walk. He seems to be house-trained, and is motivated by affection and treats.
He can still be a little nervous at times when he meets new people, and benefits from calm encouragement. Once Beignet is comfortable, his sweet personality really shines. He enjoys pets and butt scratches, and when he’s feeling safe, he’ll even nudge your hand for more—a quiet but very endearing way of asking for affection. He is starting to loosen up in the yard, too, and enjoys playing with toys.
Beignet spent his snow break in a foster home and made a gentle, heartfelt first impression. He is clearly house-trained and has a very sweet, soft demeanor. From the start, Beignet showed that he’s a true “Velcro dog,” happiest when he’s close by and able to keep his people in sight. He’s perfectly content resting near his humans and takes treats and kibble gently from the palm of your hand.
As he settled into a new environment, Beignet showed some understandable nervousness that eased with simple structure and boundaries—an encouraging sign of how well he responds to guidance. Once given time to decompress, he was calm, affectionate, and content to lounge wherever his people were.
Beignet would thrive in a patient, loving home that values closeness, routine, and a calm atmosphere. With consistency and reassurance, he has all the qualities of a loyal, gentle best friend who just wants to be near the people he loves.
Beignet has met other dog pals at BARCS and does best with gentle, calm canine friends.
Beignet would do best with a patient adopter who is happy to let him move at his own pace. He is still becoming comfortable with his kennel environment, so we encourage potential adopters to ask to meet him outside, where he feels more relaxed and can show his true self.

I`m a VIP because I`m still learning, and the shelter can be a tough place for dogs like me to shine. But I’ve got a whole team cheering me on! Here are a few things the staff and volunteers are helping me with:
• Feeling less stressed/fearful in my kennel • Building confidence when I`m scared •

Some animals get adopted immediately and their photos never make it onto our website—which is wonderful! If you don’t see what you are looking for, please visit our shelter to meet your perfect match today! Adoption fees are $75; however, we offer several adoption packages listed here. Our adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 2-6 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

**Please note: Animals listed on our adoption pages may still be on stray hold and pending reunion with their owners, or have an existing pending adoption application.
