My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zoomies, Snuggles, and Cheese, Please: Meet Duke!

Looking for a sweet-faced, toy-tossing, cheese-loving herder mix who’s equal parts brain, brawn, and big feels? Duke might just be your dream dog. This handsome pup is a lovable blend of shepherd smarts and goofy charm, with soulful eyes that will absolutely convince you to give him “just one more treat.”

Duke is always ready for an adventure - whether it's racing around the yard, trying out a new trail, or practicing his gravity-defying couch leaps. He’s got typical herding dog enthusiasm for movement, chase games, and “helping” you decide where to go next - even if that means flopping down like a ton of bricks when he has other ideas. But don’t worry, cheese is his kryptonite and he’s easily persuaded when snacks are on the table!

When playtime winds down, Duke shifts gears into full cuddle mode. He’s a champion snuggler who loves winding down with his people, showing off his toy collection, or just flopping on the floor for a chew session with a puzzle toy. He’s respectful with other dogs once the rules of play are set and would thrive with a playful canine sibling to match his energy. He especially vibes with fellow herders and dogs who like a good chase-and-wrestle match.

Duke is still learning the ropes of polite society (and Zoom call etiquette), so a home ready to continue guiding him through the puppy-brained phases will help him shine. He’s eager to please, incredibly affectionate, and always game to make new friends - even if he needs a second to warm up before melting into full tail-wagging mode.

If you’ve got space in your heart and home for a goofy, galloping shadow who will make you laugh daily and love you forever, Duke is ready to leap right in - literally!

Duke is estimated to have been born in August 2024 and weighs 55 lbs. He is a Shepherd/herding mix dog, possibly border collie, but we can’t be sure! He’s handsome, smart, and eager to love! Duke has done well with kids in a previous foster home, and we may consider homes with kids under 5 for Duke, if the home has breed-specific experience.

Homes with a fenced yard or space to explore where he does not need to walk by cars for regular exercise or potty breaks are preferred.

Duke’s adoption fee is $450. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Per our rescue policy, unless specifically noted in a dog's bio, we will not consider adoption applications from families with children under 5 years old.

More about this rescue

Forgotten Dogs Rescue is a volunteer and foster home based rescue organization focused on saving Pit Bull type dogs. Located in Washington State, we are a 501c3 non-profit and have been saving animals since 2011. We are dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned dogs who are in Washington's shelters, surrendered by their owners due to difficult circumstances or are in danger of abuse or neglect.

We save the dogs that need help the most, the dogs whose time has run out, the dogs who have lost all hope — the forgotten dogs.
