My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Unicorn: A Sweetheart Searching for Her Magical Ending

Sometimes a name says it all—I'm Unicorn, and I'm one of a kind. I came to CARE from Chicago Animal Control after spending time on the streets, and while my cropped ears hint at a difficult past, they don't define who I am today.

The Real Me:
I'm pure sweetness wrapped up in a loving, gentle soul. Despite whatever happened before, I haven't lost my faith in people or my capacity to love. I'm the kind of dog who greets everyone with a wagging tail and hopeful eyes, ready to show you that my past doesn't determine my future.

What Makes Me Special:
Incredibly affectionate: I live for pets, cuddles, and quality time with my people
Dog-friendly: I get along wonderfully with other dogs and would love a canine companion
Resilient: I've been through tough times but remain trusting and sweet

Just wants love: That's it. That's all I'm asking for.

My Perfect Home:
I'm looking for someone who sees past my scars to the loving dog I truly am. Someone who will give me the safe, gentle life I deserve. Someone who understands that the best things are worth waiting for—and I've been waiting for you.

I don't need much—just a soft place to land, consistent kindness, and a family who will finally show me what "forever" means.
Will you be my happily ever after?
Because this sweetheart is ready to make all your days a little more magical.

Our fees include a full medical exam by a veterinarian. This includes a Feline Leukemia and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) test for cats, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, deworming and Spay/Neuter. Dogs receive a Heartworm Check, Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, Canine Flu Vaccine, deworming, and Kennel Cough preventative. Our modest adoption fees do not cover the procedures and vet work that we provide the animals. We fundraise to make up the difference. Any ongoing medical needs that C.A.R.E. is aware of are explained fully, (including daily medicine costs), to the potential adopter, and become the responsibility of the adopter.
