My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi. My name is Candace. Yes, that Candace. And yes… I do have some things to report.

First of all, can we talk about the obvious? I am a flame point Siamese, which basically means I am ridiculously pretty. Soft cream fur, little orange accents, the whole elegant situation. I didn’t ask to be this beautiful — it just happened.

Right now I’m still a little shy. The world has been a lot lately, so I’m taking my time getting comfortable. I like to observe things from a safe distance at first and make sure everything checks out. You could say I’m doing a bit of quality control.

But here’s the thing: under all this beauty and careful observation is a really sweet girl who just needs a little TLC to come out of her shell. A quiet home, some patience, and a kind human will go a long way in helping me feel safe and start showing my true personality.

Think of me like a shy star who just hasn’t had her spotlight moment yet. With the right person, I’m going to blossom into a wonderful companion.

So if you’re someone who appreciates a stunning cat with a soft heart and you’re willing to give me a little time to settle in, I promise I’m worth it.

And if you happen to notice how pretty I am while you’re giving me pets… well… I won’t mind reporting that either.

Love,
Candace 🐾✨An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $200.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.

More about this shelter

At DeKalb Humane Society, we are passionate about finding forever homes for the pets in our care. Whether they are cats, dogs, or other furry friends, our mission is to provide them with a loving and nurturing environment.

We also believe in the importance of education about responsible pet ownership. We strive to educate our community about pet welfare, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

By adopting a pet from us, you are not only gaining a lifetime companion, but you are also contributing to our cause and helping us raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals.

The DeKalb Humane Society filed for our Certificate of Incorporation on December 23, 1975 and we were granted 501(c)3 status in March of 1976. We are committed to being a no-kill shelter and serving the DeKalb County area.
