Kai is a very loving boy. Honestly one of the best dogs I’ve had the privilege of having. Unfortunately I have to rehome him. He’s a wonderful dog just needs a home without small children under the age of 10

Story
HI - MY NAME IS BRIE! I'm a 10-month-old Basenji mix in need of a foster or forever home. I weigh only 30 pounds! I was rescued from a crowded California shelter along with my brother Franco (he also needs a home), and it was a pretty traumatic experience for us. But I'm now coming out of my shell, and am ready for a foster or forever home. Like many dogs I'll need some time to transition to a new life, but once I do, I'll be your best friend forever. I am a true medium-sized girl and would do great in a quiet home with a single person, a couple or a family with older kids. Please email for an application.

Story
Meet Bailey!Bailey is a young Basenji with beauty, brains, and plenty of spirit! This cute girl is full of energy and curiosity, always ready to explore the world around her. One of Bailey’s most adorable quirks is her habit of hopping around on her back legs when she gets excited, sure to bring a smile to your face.Bailey is sweet, intelligent, and eager to learn, but like many young dogs, she will need continued training, structure, and a patient adopter to help guide her into becoming her very best self. She is still learning good manners, including that people are for loving, not mouthing, so she’ll need help and consistency in learning appropriate ways to play and interact. With love, guidance, and plenty of enrichment, Bailey has all the potential to grow into an amazing companion. If you’re looking for a smart, lively pup to share life’s adventures with, Bailey may be your perfect match! If you are interested in meeting Bailey, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday, 11 am – 6 pm, Sunday 11 am-4 pm (Summer Hours). If you’d like to schedule an appointment, check out the pets’ profile on our website at newberganimals.com to fill out an application and email it to frontdesk@newberganimals.com.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment. Please follow the instructions on each pet profile.

Story
Meet Yaz! This 7-month old, 25 pound sweetie is the perfect family dog! She absolutely loves attention and gets along with every human and doggo she meets. She is likely to follow you around the house and try to get as many pets as possible. Yaz seeks out other playful pups and is always down for a good game of chase. She has some dog siblings in her foster home and they zoomie around the yard together every day, so she would love to join a home with another playful dog. She’s also showing signs of some expert level fetch skills, so there may be some ball chasing in her future! Yaz does great on a leash, loving her daily neighborhood walk around SE Portland. She is very curious and loves exploring the world around her. Yaz is nearly fully potty trained and has been learning some basic commands like “sit” and “stay.” She’s a receptive girlie and picks up things quickly, so she is bound to flourish with continued training. This playful little toy fanatic is full of puppy energy and would love a home where she can get all the love, playtime, and adventures her heart could ask for. Underdogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Adoption fee is $450.  You MUST have an Underdogs Rock Rescue application on file to request a meet with an Underdog. An online Underdogs Rock adoption application can only be accessed at  https://underdogsrock.org/adopt-a-dog  . You must be available to meet an Underdog in their foster's location and dogs are not held for applicants or shipped outside of the Portland metro area. Home checks are also part of the process and will be conducted virtually. For updates on all the Underdogs be sure to follow the Underdogs Rock Rescue Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/UnderdogsRockRescueJuly 21, 2026, 1:47 pm

Story
MEET FRANCO, an adorable but scared 2-year-old French Bulldog/possibly Basenji mix in need of a foster or forever home. Franco is currently housed with his sister Brie, who looks a lot like him and is also scared. They can be adopted separately or apart. They weigh about 35 lbs each. (Their paperwork may say shepherd mix but they both have Frenchie ears.) Both of them are timid/scared of new people, so they need adopters who can be patient and let them come out of their shells and bond to you. Franco is cute as a button and a wonderful medium size. He is currently in California, but can be transported to Washington.
