Story
Scotty is a very sweet, loving, calm basset hound. He was abandoned by his owner in Asia as they discovered that he has some deformity in his front legs. His joint buckles as he walks but that doens't slow him down in anyway. He's able to walk, run, and go up/down the stairs just fine! He walks well on leash. Loves to eat and he does well with other dogs and loves people. SF Bay Area adoption only.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Seven-year-old Mosho is a friendly, happy boy.  He arrived with his pal, Cleo, but Cleo has already found a new home. They came from a home with children. Because Mosho tends to jump on people, which could frighten, or knock over a very young child, Mosho is recommended for older children, or adults. Mosho is an adept and determined counter-surfer, which his foster home is working on!  Mosho gets along well with other dogs of his size, or larger, but would likely be happiest as an only dog. He walks nicely on a leash and is a great car traveler. He is not good with cats, chickens or other small animals. Mosho is potty-trained, but has had some difficulty learning to use the doggie door in his foster home.  He is said to be crate trained, although he is allowed to sleep on dog beds, or on the furniture in his foster home.  Mosho would be great with older kids or an older couple.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 13, 2026, 7:15 pm

Gus' foster parent has this to say about Gus: Gus is a fun loving 3 ½ year old male basset who has been in my home since April 2025, when his owner of only 6-8 months had to surrender him as she had a terminal illness. He had some challenges that I have been working on with him. He had severe resource guarding issues but is 95% better today. He is fed in a separate area then his basset sister and left alone while eating. He will growl periodically if he thinks that there is food in a bowl that his sister or the cat walks by so thus why the bowls are picked up promptly after feedings and put away till the next feeding. He is not particularly fond of men and does growl at them when he sees them. (workers on the ranch/vet’s office) As I am single and do not have men in my home, I can not work with him on this insecurity. I have exposed him to other people and dogs when he goes out on walks and he does ok. He has been boarded on a few different occasions when I am out of the area or for a doggy daycare day and does well, although he does initially growl at any male staff. Gus loves to do zoomies up and down the hallway and play with his cat friend Stanley and his 2 canine sisters, Presley and Kitchi. He does bark at traffic on the ranch and the cows across the street. I feel he would be best in a home with another canine sister that is easy going and matches his medium energy and either with just a single woman or a couple that is willing to work with him to get him acclimated to men. Overall, Gus is a love and with the right family and continued socialization, will thrive. He can be stubborn, as most bassets are known for, but that is what I love about my bassets, as I also am stubborn so understand the mentality. He's the sweetest boy who loves to cuddle, and is also full of energy! He's shy at first (especially with men), but once he trusts you, he'll be your shadow and best friend. He'd do best in a home that has people around a lot, and would probably love a canine companion -especially one who would enjoy regular playtime! He still exhibits the traits of a puppy (curious, impulsive, still learning to walk on a leash), but sits on command and has the potential to quickly learn other commands - he is very sensitive to correction and wants to please. Abby is a happy, loving 10 month old puppy who has absolutely no idea that there is anything wrong with her. She’s as active as any other puppy and just as mischievous. She loves other dogs and people and has a wonderful temperament. She’s already mastered Basset stubbornness and can give “side eye” with the best of them. Unfortunately, Abby was born with rear legs that don’t work properly. She has never walked so she doesn’t miss it and she can scoot as fast as the other dogs run around the house. We’ve customized a wheelchair for her (looks a bit like a clown car) but she loves it and goes for walks with the other dogs. Abby was surrendered to GGBR in November 2025 and we were told by the breeder that she was 9 weeks old and had a back injury - maybe a dog had stepped on her. We started physical therapy and acupuncture but we realized that she was not improving nor did she really have any desire to walk. After doing x-rays it was determined that she was born with severe hip dysplasia and her stifles (knees) did not set properly in the socket. In addition, because she wasn’t walking, not being able to put weight on her rear limbs limited their development. She’s not in any pain or discomfort and can get in as much trouble as a fully mobile dog. Abby is currently 39 pounds and should be around 48-50 pounds when she is full grown. She is not incontinent but since she’s unable to be trained to go outside, she wears diapers in the house and then sleeps in a crate with an incontinence pad at night. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.    This shy little sweetheart is Pickle. She is a beautiful black and white dog with a smooth coat, lovely ears and soulful eyes. Her breed mix is just a guess, but her relatively short legs and floopy ears suggest that she may be a basset hound mix. However, whatever her ancestry, this girl is agile and a jumper! She can easily jump over a standard baby gate. Pickle was an unclaimed stray in a local shelter and is guessed to be around 3 years old. Pickle is spayed and up to date on vaccinations.  Pickle has a sweet dispostion. Although initially standoffish with the other dogs in her foster home, it took only about 30 minutes for her to get comfortable with the dogs and to start playing. However, she seems to be most comfortable around dogs her own size, or smaller.  She is not fond of the family's bloodhound, but she loves their two basset hounds and she ignores the family cat. In terms of her humans, Pickle seems to prefer women to men. It took her some time to warm up to her foster dad. It is unknown, at this time, how she reacts to children. She's a good car traveler and does great when out in public places.
