Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Six-year-old Mosho is a friendly, happy boy.  He arrived with his pal, Cleo, but they can be adopted separately. They came from a home with children. Because Mosho tends to jump on people, which could frighten, or knock over a very young child, Mosho is recommended for older children, or adults. Mosho is an adept and determined counter-surfer, which his foster home is working on!  Mosho gets along well with other dogs of his size, or larger. He does not seem to like small dogs and can get stressed in situations with too many dogs, such as a busy dog park. He walks nicely on a leash and is a great car traveler. He is not good with cats, chickens or other small animals. Mosho is potty-trained, but has had some difficulty learning to use the doggie door in his foster home.  He is said to be crate trained, although he is allowed to sleep on dog beds, or on the furniture in his foster home.  Mosho would be great with older kids or an older couple.  He would be fine in a home with a doggie playmate of his size, or larger, or as an only dog.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 21, 2026, 1:25 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gus' foster parent has this to say about Gus:Gus is a fun loving 3 ½ year old male basset who has been in my home since April 2025, when his owner of only 6-8 months had to surrender him as she had a terminal illness. He had some challenges that I have been working on with him. He had severe resource guarding issues but is 95% better today. He is fed in a separate area then his basset sister and left alone while eating. He will growl periodically if he thinks that there is food in a bowl that his sister or the cat walks by so thus why the bowls are picked up promptly after feedings and put away till the next feeding. He is not particularly fond of men and does growl at them when he sees them. (workers on the ranch/vet’s office) As I am single and do not have men in my home, I can not work with him on this insecurity. I have exposed him to other people and dogs when he goes out on walks and he does ok. He has been boarded on a few different occasions when I am out of the area or for a doggy daycare day and does well, although he does initially growl at any male staff. Gus loves to do zoomies up and down the hallway and play with his cat friend Stanley and his 2 canine sisters, Presley and Kitchi. He does bark at traffic on the ranch and the cows across the street. I feel he would be best in a home with another canine sister that is easy going and matches his medium energy and either with just a single woman or a couple that is willing to work with him to get him acclimated to men. Overall, Gus is a love and with the right family and continued socialization, will thrive. He can be stubborn, as most bassets are known for, but that is what I love about my bassets, as I also am stubborn so understand the mentality.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 1:54 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.10-month-old male basset mix in Diamond Springs   Manicotti is not with Golden Gate Basset Rescue. He is listed here as a courtesy for El Dorado County Animal Services in Diamond Springs, CA. Meet Manicotti — the shyest noodle in the pasta pack. He is the brother of Fritz! When you’ve got a whole family of long, low-riding, delightfully wiggly Basset mixes, what else would you name them besides pasta? And trust us—Manicotti fits his name perfectly. Soft, a little reserved at first… but absolutely filled with goodness once you get to know him.At just 10 months old, this handsome red, neutered boy is still figuring out the world. Compared to his sisters, Manicotti is a bit more of a gentle soul—the kind of pup who hangs back, observes, and then slowly decides you might be worth his trust (spoiler alert: you are).He may be the shyest of the bunch, but underneath that quiet exterior is a very, very sweet dog who just needs a little time, patience, and encouragement to fully blossom. Think of him as a “low rider in training,” learning that life can be fun, safe, and full of love. And once he starts to come out of his shell? Oh, you’ll see it—The playfulness, the silliness, the floppy-eared enthusiasm that makes this whole pasta crew so special. These dogs are affectionate, kind, and just the right amount of goofy.Manicotti would likely do best in a home with older children or no children, simply because he prefers a calmer, more predictable environment where he can build confidence at his own pace.He and his siblings may have been a little under-socialized early on, but they are absolutely thriving now—soaking up attention, learning new things, and discovering just how good it feels to be loved.Manicotti is looking for someone who will meet him where he is… and then gently show him the world isn’t such a scary place after all. Someone who will celebrate the small wins, laugh at the silly moments, and appreciate the quiet magic of earning a shy dog’s trust.Because once you do, you don’t just get a dog.You get Manicotti—your soft, sweet, slightly shy, wonderfully wiggly best friend. And really… who wouldn’t want a little extra pasta in their life?   Shelter information Location: El Dorado County Animal Services - Placerville Website: edcgov.us/Government/AnimalServices/Pages/animal_services_main_info.aspx Phone Number: (530) 621-5795 Address: 6435 Capitol AvenueDiamond Springs, CA 95619 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 21, 2026, 1:25 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fritz is a 10-month-old mix, who was surrendered to a local shelter, along with his litter mates. Most likely, he is a basset/lab mix (which we call a 'Bassador'). He has a good disposition, getting along well with other dogs and people. He is happy, loves to play with his toys, and can even play fetch (sort of)! He walks very nicely, with an occasional sniff-stop, but never pulling or lunging. He loves to play with water and has been friendly with all the kids he has met so far (age ranging from 3 to 11 year-old girls). He rides well in the car, but should be tethered to keep him confined to the back. Fritz shows signs of separation anxiety and barks when left alone. He is currently being trained to overcome it and would do better in a household with other dogs or with a person who stays at home most of the time.  Check out his video clips!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 21, 2026, 1:25 am
