✨Meet Bessy!✨ Bessy is a 2-month-old Beagle mix who came into us as a surrender from a commercial breeding facility (aka Puppy Mill) in Lancaster County because she had obvious medical issues from birth and could not be sold. Sadly, poor breeding practices in puppy mills (unhealthy parent dogs, inbreeding, lack of genetic or health screening, and repeated overbreeding) frequently result in puppies being born with serious medical conditions. Rescues like ours are often the only hope for dogs who are born “unprofitable.” After Bessy arrived in our care, she was examined by our veterinary team, who discovered that she has two massive hernias—an umbilical hernia and an inguinal hernia. This condition is congenital, meaning she was born with it, and it can become life-threatening if left untreated. Thankfully, both of Bessy’s hernias can be surgically repaired, fully resolving the issue. Bessy is a sweet but shy puppy who will require a family up to the task of providing her the ample physical/mental exercise and training that all puppies require. Puppies require a family who can continue their basic training and socialization skills to grow into confident and happy adult dogs! Jeremy has returned to the shelter through no fault of his own. Unfortunately, there has been a change in the family dynamic and sadly neither party is in a position to take him, so he was returned to the safety of the shelter where we are going to find this young man another family to love him. He has been spending his days keeping his owner company while they worked from home, so we are unsure how he is going to handle long days home alone. He was trusted to roam the home freely because he`s potty trained and a good boy. He is not crate trained but with a little patience hell get it if you work outside the home. Reportedly he has been good with kids of all ages, but he does jump up to greet. He is reactive to both dogs and cats so he needs to be the only pet, but he is an awesome companion and has enough love to satisfy any family. Don`t let Jeremy wait long.
