Story
Meet Izzie. We are not sure she could get any cuter. Izzie has a soft sleek black coat with white markings on a long basset hound type body with short legs. Her head and ears however says their may be some beagle in the mix. She is long, lean, and petite. In that cute little package is a fun loving prancing pup with a lot of speed when zoomies kick in. She loves other dogs and plays great with all sizes. She is not a fan of having her picture taken. She is also not a fan of walking on leash so for that reason a yard would be best. She doesnt fight the leash she just lays down and stays put. We are working on it. She can be a little timid at first but settles in quickly. She would love a home where she could sleep in your bed curled up next to you... despite her short legs she can get on a standard bed or sofa. She is spayed, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines and on flea, tick, heartworm prevention. Sweet Izzie weighs less than 30 pounds. She is being fostered in North Alabama but can travel to the right home.

Story
Buddy is an 11-year-old Basset mix with a gentle soul, a curious nose, and a love for the simple things in life. This handsome fellow enjoys leisurely walks, relaxing in the yard, and stretching out for a cozy nap in his favorite bed after a day of exploring. Buddy may have a few gray hairs, but he still gets excited the moment he sees his leash and is always ready for an adventure. Like a true Basset, he can be delightfully stubborn, especially if he`s decided he`s not quite finished enjoying the outdoors.Buddy is a low-key companion who would love a peaceful home where he can settle into a predictable routine. He enjoys meeting the world at his own pace and can be cautious when new people first arrive, often announcing visitors with a few barks before relaxing once he realizes everything is okay. He loves sniffing around the yard, watching squirrels and birds, and playing a good game of tug-of-war with his favorite rope toy. Once the day winds down, Buddy is happiest curled up in a comfy bed, content just being near his people.Buddy is looking for a forever family who will help him thrive during his golden years. He would do best as the only dog in the home, as he prefers not to share high-value items like chew bones or toys, and he would be happiest with adults or a family with older, dog-savvy children. A securely fenced yard is important because Buddy loves to follow his nose and explore his surroundings. If you`re searching for a loyal, mellow companion who enjoys quiet walks, peaceful evenings, and plenty of love, Buddy is ready to become your very best friend. Contact BROOD today to meet Buddy! His adoption fee is $150.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of BROOD dogs is an estimate, as very few come with exact age records. 07/08/2026

Story
Meet Millie 🤍 Millie came to us after our field team found her sick and chained outside — but if you met her today, you'd never guess how hard her start was. She is pure sweetness, the kind of dog who just wants to be close to you and soak up every bit of love she can get. And honestly? She's earned it. She's currently working through heartworm treatment, taking things slow and resting up — but she's handling it like a champ. In the meantime, she's been discovering what it feels like to be truly cared for: cool air, soft beds, a full belly, and a family who adores her. Safe to say she's settling in just fine. When she's ready, Millie will be looking for a home where she can keep right on being loved. She does great with kids and other dogs, and we think she'll thrive anywhere she's given the chance to just be a dog — cherished, comfortable, and finally at peace. She didn't have someone in her corner before. Now she does — and we're not stopping until she has a forever home to match. We urge you to apply to adopt Millie if a sweet hound sounds like the perfect addition to your family🐾

Story
Meet the cutest little guy around! He is a compact ball of love and we call him our "Walmart Greeter". Carson's person died a couple of years ago and he is needing a new home. Carson is a happy little guy who loves everyone and gets along great with other dogs. Carson is playful, housebroken, snuggly, likes to play with toys and would love a family to call his own again. This little guy is part Shih Tzu part.... Bassett?? A short, stocky little man for sure. Don't let those little legs fool you though, he likes to run and play with the big dogs. Carson is housebroken, so the hard work is done for you! He is an adult with a lot of life left! Let him snuggle up to you and you can heal his little heart. If you'd like to adopt Carson, please fill out our online application at www.goofyfootrescue.org Carson is in foster care in West TN and will be transported once his adoption is finalized.
