Story
Meet Buddy Almost Home Foster Kennels, MN Lic. 132328 is a 501c3, not-for-profit, foster-based, rescue organization. AHFK is located in SE Minnesota in the Austin/Albert Lea area. AHFK is primarily a Beagle and small dog rescue. Our focus is to pull from High-Kill Shelters and to save those dogs that are at risk of euthanasia. All AHFK adoptions require an approved, completed application, a Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check, a smoke-free environment, and a home visit. Buddy's adoption fee is $300.00 All our dogs are completely vetted, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. We are currently accepting applications for Buddy. Buddy was surrendered to a Veterinary clinic in the Tulsa OK area. His owner had moved, out of country, and left Buddy with family members. The family did not want Buddy and surrendered him for euthanasia. The veterinary staff could not euthanize Buddy and kept him in a crate until they could find a rescue or adopter. Buddy lived in this crate for 40 days. Buddy needs a securely fenced yard as he loves to visit nearby neighbors and confiscate articles of property that do not belong to him. Buddy needs a human that will have time, patience, and love for him. He has been neglected and allowed to roam freely. He needs a routine and structure. He loves to be outside and thoroughly enjoys leash walking. Buddy shows some issues with resource guarding with other dogs. He has been through training and his new owner will have to carry through with positive reinforcement. We have not had an issue with guarding against humans. Buddy is of the Beagle breed, a natural hunter, therefore, we are looking for a home with a securely fenced yard and a family with one Pet Parent that is a stay-at-home parent, or one which works from home; a family that can help Buddy acclimate to her new surroundings and environment with compassion, love, and patience. Please allow 6-8 weeks for Buddy to acclimate to the changes in his life. We would also like Buddy to be the only dog. Meet and greets are scheduled upon approved, completed application. If interested in meeting Buddy, please complete the application found on our website: almosthomefoster.com

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Meet Preacher — Nothing but a Hound Dog (and proud of it).  Preacher lives and breathes by the lyrics of “You Ain’t Nothin’ but a Hound Dog,” because… well… he ain’t nothin’ but a hound dog. No DNA test needed, no Maury episode required — this boy’s daddy was 100% hound. True to his hound heritage, Preacher puts that legendary nose to work daily and isn’t shy about using his voice to alert you when something seems amiss (which could be an actual concern… or a leaf that looked at him funny). If you’re looking for a quiet companion, Preacher politely suggests you keep scrolling — but if you love personality, welcome home. Preacher first came to our rescue as a puppy and was adopted into a loving home. Unfortunately, life changes happened and he couldn’t stay, so he’s back with us and ready for his second chance at forever. The good news? We know he’s been loved, is potty trained, and is extremely enthusiastic about food. Speaking of food… Preacher is on special food, as his previous family noted he sometimes had trouble digesting meals as a puppy. Our best guess? He eats like he’s competing in an Olympic speed event. A slow feeder is definitely his friend, and we’ve occasionally noticed some reverse sneezing, which may have been part of the issue. None of this slows him down when dinner is involved. In his foster home, Preacher is learning how to live with multiple dogs and is practicing the idea that sharing is caring (especially when snacks are involved). He can be trusted outside of a kennel, though he was crated at night initially to help him settle in. He has also previously lived with a cat and coexisted harmoniously, proving he can be respectful of his feline roommates. Preacher would love a home with room to stretch his hound legs and people who enjoy adventures. Shared walls are not recommended — unless you’re looking to relocate due to noise complaints. He has only ever lived with a fenced-in yard, so his new family will need to ensure he gets adequate exercise and enrichment to give that classic hound personality a healthy outlet for his energy. He’s also rocking a little extra fluff these days — think “maybe I had a few too many cookies last year” — so we’re working on trimming the turkey with walks, structure, and portion control. Medical & Care Notes: Preacher has had ear infections in the past, so his future family will need to commit to weekly ear cleanings to help keep those long hound ears healthy and infection-free. He also has a few lumps and bumps that the vet believes are fatty tumors, which is not unusual for a handsome gentleman of 9 years young who may be carrying a little extra junk in the trunk. Nothing alarming — just part of loving a seasoned hound. Preacher does take direction well… but his foster mom says giving him too much direction might set him up for failure, because sometimes a hound’s gonna hound. If you’re looking for a loyal, vocal, food-motivated explorer with soulful eyes, big personality, and a whole lot of heart, Preacher is ready to preach his way right into your home.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application.  Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet!  A home visit is required prior to adoption.  Thank you for choosing to adopt! Breed and temperament determination:  Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue attempts to determine breed and temperament using a combination of looks, information provided to us at intake, and our experience with the animal while in our Rescue.  We do not guarantee this determination. Story
Our sweet 12-year-old beagle is still on the hunt for her forever home — preferably one with fewer roommates than our current situation (six dogs is apparently too many to be the center of attention). She’s an easy keeper who runs on love, snacks, and proximity to humans. Bedtime is her favorite sport — she will happily curl up next to you and sleep straight through the night… unless she decides she’s not getting her way, in which case you’ll hear her signature “tiny whine of injustice.” Cute at noon, slightly less magical at 2 a.m. When she gets the zoomies, you’ll be treated to full-volume hound commentary. Otherwise, she’s pretty quiet and saves her voice for special occasions only. Mostly, she’s just the sweetest, snuggliest girl who wants nothing more than to be your shadow and soak up all the love she can get. Honestly? She’s a 10/10 good girl who deserves to be someone’s whole world. Photo background is AI generated
