Meet Darby! She’s a super happy, gentle, and easy-going girl with lots of love to give her forever family. Darby makes friends easily, greeting new people with full-body wiggles! She may be a bit timid at first when meeting new dogs and may go to humans for reassurance, but she relaxes pretty quickly. She also does well with cats, letting them have plenty of their own space. She would make a wonderful addition to a variety of loving homes! Darby is equally content to cuddle up on the sofa and snooze or to get out and explore the sights and smells of the neighborhood. Her full body wiggles return when her leash appears and it’s time to go for a walk! She does great on the leash— she lets her people set the pace and doesn’t pull. Darby is house trained and sleeps soundly through the night in her crate. She hasn’t barked yet but will whimper from time to time if she needs a snack or a little affection. Sometimes she’ll quietly follow her people from room to room to keep them company. Most of the time she’s content to watch the world go by outside the window or snooze on the couch until it’s time to play! This little heart-stealer is eagerly waiting to cuddle up to her forever family and shower them with love! Could Darby be a good fit for you? Darby is estimated to be 2 years old and 30 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, and have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. She got spayed on June 19th and is thriving in her foster home, where she gets along wonderfully with the other dogs. Her submissive personality makes her an easy companion, and she's happy to let the other pups take the lead. Like any puppy, she's still learning the ropes! She'll need a family committed to continuing her training, especially with basic manners and house training. Rollie was surrendered after his owner died. He had never lived inside until he came into rescue. He is now house and crate trained. He does love to run and play and hide his bones outside. He had very little socialization with other dogs and is a little dog selective (prefers females more than males). He's more of a loner than most. He has always been crated inside to avoid the mischief a beagle tends to get into with chewing items he isn't supposed to be chewing. It is more for his safety of not swallowing anything harmful. He will bark to let you know when he needs to go potty. He has been completely vetted. He deserves a home of his own to retire in and enjoy the rest of his life. He is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC. Please let me know if you have any questions. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fritter was found as a stray by the side of the road in mid August, and he came to MCHS on 8/17/2026. We held him for the legal stray hold and no one came forward. We do think he's a beagle mix, probably with other smaller breeds, and he would resemble a dachshund if he didn't have longer legs. He came to us at around 20 pounds but was on the thin side and has a small frame. He could be 1 to 2 years old and will be fully vetted on August 25th. His fee is $150. Fritter is a nice boy! He's pretty quiet and well mannered. He does occasionally let loose with the hound sound but he doesn't abuse the skill. He loves to be around people and has done well with other dogs. We don't think he'd have a problem with cats and would most likely be fine with kids, too. He seems to have had a little basic training but is open to learning more. NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South.
