Story
Name: Dora Breed: Beagle  Weight: 15 Kg/33 lbs Gender: Female Spayed/neutered: Spayed  Age: 10 years    Reason for Intake:Owner surrender  Up to Date with Vetting: Yes Good with dogs: She is reactive to other dogs, and will bark at them. It can also be a hit and miss as some dogs she just ignores, and some she dislikes and will react to. Good with cats: No she will chase them Good with kids: She is good with kids as long as they are respectful to her Good with strangers: When strangers visit she is a bit timid but will go up to them wanting pets. She likes when we have human visitors.   Resource guarding issues: Not from people, she probably would with dogs Ever bitten a human: No Ever bitten a dog: not since being in foster care Fears: She is timid and jumps at loud sounds or loud voices, she needs a bit of time to become comfortable with new places and people.  Housetrained: Yes.  Her foster has now started taking her for a large walk in morning which she loves and is good  to walk on leash as with any Beagle she walks with her nose to the ground looking for scents. She goes for 2 sometimes 3 big walks in a day. She will startle at new sounds . Crate trained: Yes,  she has been crated and willingly goes into crate, but with foster she is not crated but does sleep in the crate at night beside fosters bed with crate door open, she is left alone for 4 hours some days and with no damage or accidents.  Good in the car: Excellent in the car lays down in the back seat and falls asleep. Has a little problem getting in but will try and jump up and out in the Fosters car but it is a bit high, so she will need a bit of assistance.   Bark when left alone: She will bark/howl for about 5 minutes when foster leaves for work, but settles after that. Destructive: No Energy Level: Low to medium, she loves to walk and see new things, it’s not at break speed but a nice leisurely walk, and she would love going trail walking with more things to see and smell.  Leash skills: She walks well on leash and  foster walks her on a loose leash most of the time. However if a scent appears she likes, she will pull  to follow it.  Okay with physical handling/manipulations: Foster has brushed her, cleaned her teeth, you can touch her feet and ears with no problem.   Known commands: Have not found any she knows yet.  Food on now:Royal Canin Gastrointestinal for now both canned and kibble.  Behavioural issues: She is timid and needs a bit of time to  warm up to new people places and things. As far as we know, she was used for hunting and not familiar to the house.  She is coming around and becoming more familiar to the sights and sounds in a house such as the TV, fridge, she will bolt when encountering new things that frighten her. She is frightened if you raise your arms too quickly but is slowly coming around to knowing that with her foster it is nothing to be frightened off.  Medical issues: At her last V et check up her heart was fine, her eyes are a bit cloudy,  and it was stated she was in good condition for an older lady.  Foster: She is the perfect companion for a retired couple or a single person who is not overly active but still wants to get out for a bit. She will bark to alert you if she thinks there is someone in her house that she doesn’t know. She loves to be near you and will follow you everywhere, she gets so excited to welcome you home that she sometimes breaks out into a howl which is very much "Beagle-like".  She loves to be petted and will often come over and lick your hands to get you to pet her, then will flip onto her back to have a belly rub. She is a sweet heart who just wants to feel loved and she deserves to be pampered the rest of her life. June 9, 2025, 8:36 am

Story
Brownie is 6 months old and weighs 28 lbs. Brownie was born on the streets and ended up at the pound when picked up by Animal Control at a young age. Unfortunately, because he had little direct contact with humans, he was quite timid. For this reason, he was put on the pound’s euthanasia list. We were made aware of this beautiful pup’s misfortune and rescued him all the way from south Texas. Brownie is very sweet and gentle in nature. He was shy upon his arrival in rescue but warmed up in little time. He quickly became affectionate towards his foster caregiver and now loves to be petted and get belly rubs! Brownie is easy going, smart, curious and highly trainable as he is attentive and aims to please and is very food motivated (he always takes a treat gently). He learned the command SIT after only a few attempts! He is crate trained and is catching on to his housebreaking skills. Brownie is very sociable with other dogs, he is playful and loves to roughhouse with his foster doggy siblings. He is not a boss dog but a follower. He especially enjoys to chew on Nyla bones and to play tug of war with his stuffed toys and knotted rope! He is crate trained and is housebreaking skills are coming along nicely. Brownie is a wonderful pup, a loving and happy puppy who will thrive in a home with a family who will give him a bit of time to warm up.
