Story
Brownie is 6 months old and weighs 28 lbs. This little guy has a sweet and gentle temperament. Brownie was born on the streets and ended up at the pound when picked up by Animal Control. Unfortunately, because he had little direct contact with humans, he is quite timid. For this reason, he was put on the pound’s euthanasia list. We were made aware of this pup’s misfortune and rescued him all the way from south Texas. Brownie is very sweet and gentle in nature. He is shy at first, but given time, warms up. Brownie is smart, curious and highly trainable as he is attentive and aims to please and is very food motivated (he always takes a treat gently). He learned the command SIT after only a few attempts! He is crate trained and is catching on to his housebreaking skills. Brownie is sociable, playful and loves to roughhouse with his foster doggy siblings. He especially enjoys to chew on Nyla bones and to play tug of war with his stuffed toys and knotted rope! Brownie is a wonderful, loving and happy puppy who will thrive in a home with a family who will give him all the time he needs to warm up.

Story
Name: Dora Breed: Beagle  Weight: 15 Kg/33 lbs Gender: Female Spayed/neutered: Spayed  Age: 10 years    Reason for Intake:Owner surrender  Up to Date with Vetting: Yes Good with dogs: She is reactive to other dogs, and will bark at them. It can also be a hit and miss as some dogs she just ignores, and some she dislikes and will react to. Good with cats: No she will chase them Good with kids: She is good with kids as long as they are respectful to her Good with strangers: When strangers visit she is a bit timid but will go up to them wanting pets. She likes when we have human visitors.   Resource guarding issues: Not from people, she probably would with dogs Ever bitten a human: No Ever bitten a dog: not since being in foster care Fears: She is timid and jumps at loud sounds or loud voices, she needs a bit of time to become comfortable with new places and people.  Housetrained: Yes.  Her foster has now started taking her for a large walk in morning which she loves and is good  to walk on leash as with any Beagle she walks with her nose to the ground looking for scents. She goes for 2 sometimes 3 big walks in a day. She will startle at new sounds . Crate trained: Yes,  she has been crated and willingly goes into crate, but with foster she is not crated but does sleep in the crate at night beside fosters bed with crate door open, she is left alone for 4 hours some days and with no damage or accidents.  Good in the car: Excellent in the car lays down in the back seat and falls asleep. Has a little problem getting in but will try and jump up and out in the Fosters car but it is a bit high, so she will need a bit of assistance.   Bark when left alone: She will bark/howl for about 5 minutes when foster leaves for work, but settles after that. Destructive: No Energy Level: Low to medium, she loves to walk and see new things, it’s not at break speed but a nice leisurely walk, and she would love going trail walking with more things to see and smell.  Leash skills: She walks well on leash and  foster walks her on a loose leash most of the time. However if a scent appears she likes, she will pull  to follow it.  Okay with physical handling/manipulations: Foster has brushed her, cleaned her teeth, you can touch her feet and ears with no problem.   Known commands: Have not found any she knows yet.  Food on now:Royal Canin Gastrointestinal for now both canned and kibble.  Behavioural issues: She is timid and needs a bit of time to  warm up to new people places and things. As far as we know, she was used for hunting and not familiar to the house.  She is coming around and becoming more familiar to the sights and sounds in a house such as the TV, fridge, she will bolt when encountering new things that frighten her. She is frightened if you raise your arms too quickly but is slowly coming around to knowing that with her foster it is nothing to be frightened off.  Medical issues: At her last V et check up her heart was fine, her eyes are a bit cloudy,  and it was stated she was in good condition for an older lady.  Foster: She is the perfect companion for a retired couple or a single person who is not overly active but still wants to get out for a bit. She will bark to alert you if she thinks there is someone in her house that she doesn’t know. She loves to be near you and will follow you everywhere, she gets so excited to welcome you home that she sometimes breaks out into a howl which is very much "Beagle-like".  She loves to be petted and will often come over and lick your hands to get you to pet her, then will flip onto her back to have a belly rub. She is a sweet heart who just wants to feel loved and she deserves to be pampered the rest of her life. June 9, 2025, 8:36 am

Story
Hello! My name is Lou!I`m a gentle and kind boy with lots of love to give. I am new to having three legs after being hit by a car. I`m adjusting well and am a real trooper. I would love to join a home that is able to continue supporting me and ideally doesn`t have too many necessary stairs (e.g. to get in and out of the home). I don`t enjoy being left alone and would love to join a family that has someone home most of the time. MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Yes, mature and respectful children. OTHER DOGS: Potentially, with an easy-going dog. I`m kind of indifferent towards other dogs, unless they come near my valuables, which I don`t enjoy.CATS: No, I see cats as toys and like to chase them.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I would do best with someone who has some dog experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Not necessarily.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: No homes where barking/howling will be a problem or where there are too many stairs to get in/out of the home.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Yes. When left alone, I am rather stressed, howling and sometimes chewing things.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Low-medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes, but expect accidents as I adjust to a new routine. If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the “Adopt Me” button to apply!

Story
Meet Bailey! 5 mos. Neutered/Male Beagle/Basset Hound Mix 28 lbs Playful and goofy, eager to have fun, play and explore, Bailey is a boisterous boy who is full of adventure, and he's looking for an amazing family who can help him to expend his energy on fun walks and hikes, on play time and on training, and who will shower him in all the love and cuddles. Doing great with his house training and having only the rare accident in his foster home, Bailey is smart and eager to please, but he is still very much a puppy and is working on his manners and learning that jumping up isn't polite. Bailey walks pretty well on leash, but is interested in everything around him, and as a young pup he still needs both patience and training from his new family as he learns and grows to help ensure he becomes the best possible canine companion that he can be. Bailey has only limited exposure to cats so his overall behavior with them is unknown, he does interact and play well with other dogs with a proper introduction, he absolutely loves to run around and have fun with a buddy. Still a growing boy at just over 5 months old, Bailey has lots to learn about life, but he's already an expert at love, and cant wait to have a family to grow with! Bailey is suitable for a family with older, gentle kids, or a mature setting, and will require a home with a fenced yard. Bailey has been vet checked and fully vaccinated (with booster), he has been microchipped and neutered. An adoption fee of $550 applies. Please apply to adopt today at http://priderescue.ca/

Story
PLEASE READ NIKKI’s BIO IN DETAIL TO ENSURE THAT HE WILL BE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU AND YOUR LIFESTYLE BEORE APPLYING. PEASE NOTE: HE IS BEING FOSTERED IN THE OTTAWA, ON AREA We at All Paws Matter believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. This is now a requirement in our adoption process. Proof of training classes for puppies specifically is required before adoption. NAME: Nikki Age: 5 years Breed: Mexi-Mix Sex: Male Weight: 15 kg Location: Ottawa, ON Adoption fee: $600.00 Spayed/Neutered: Yes Leash trained: Pulls slightly, but good on leash House trained: Yes but needs time outdoors to do his business Kids/Cats/Dogs: Yes - dogs, no cats, no children Vetting: Up to date on all vaccination, sterilized, microchipped, 4dx tested: negative for Heart worm. Currently on flea/tick/heart worm prevention, dewormed and vet checked before arriving. Medical Issues: None Comes with 4 weeks free pet insurance (after initial vet visit) Nikki is a major snuggle bug. Once he connects to you, he will be yours forever. Gone will be the days of being totally alone because he will be right by your side all day if you choose. He just loves to hang out and cuddle up by your side on the couch or anywhere you are. Nikki gets so excited after a good night sleep that he can’t quite contain himself as he looks forward to the rest of the day. You see, Nikki has lived on the streets for quite some time where we believe some abuse occurred so we can understand why he is so cautious of humans and everyone around him. He is being fostered with other dogs and is fine with them but we feel he would be best as an only dog so he can get all the attention that he deserves. No cats for Nikki as he does like to chase them. Nikki’s ideal home would be a quiet home, one with one or two people who are willing to gain his trust and be patient with him. He needs time to connect with people. Due to this we recommend no children since their energy may be detrimental for him. If you wish to have people over frequently he is not the dog for you as he really seems to connect with one or two people. A home with a fenced in back yard would be best and no condo/apartment as he needs to do his business frequently and needs time to do it. Nikki is crate trained and can sleep a good 8 hours in there. It is a great safe place for him as well, If you feel you would be the right fit for Nikki, please fill out an adoption application at https://www.allpawsmatter.ca/apply-to-adopt/ All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate. They come to adopter with a harness, a collar and two leashes for safety. NOTE: The above description is relevant to this dog in its current and previous setting. Home changes and adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim or suggest that our dogs are hypo-allergenic or that they shed/do not shed. BREED DISCLAIMER: We are never sure of the breed of our dogs since they arrive off the streets or shelters. It is a guess only!
