Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.        Hey there, humans! I’m Kenny, a super, mega sweet 8-year-old beagle boy on the lookout for my forever retirement home. I’m all about good vibes. I love dogs of all sizes as well as my wonderful human companions! I’m a well-mannered guy who prefers to keep my living space accident-free. Just give me a little time to adjust to my new routine and I promise I’ll let you know when I need to go outside. Cuddling? Oh, it’s one of my absolute favorite things! And don’t even get me started on doggie treats… they’re simply to die for! Honestly, I’m pretty much the perfect little guy, but I do have one tiny quirk: Big stairs. Nope, not for me! Those things look a little too scary! I can handle the small steps of about 5 or 6, but when it comes to the big ones, nope! My foster family loves to spoil me by carrying me up like my own private elevator. Hehe! I can manage going down just fine, though. Despite my little quirks, I promise I’m a very good boy ready to find my forever home with a loving family.   If you think you might be the perfect fit for me, please visit our website to learn more about bringing me home. I can’t wait to meet you! Simply visit: https://www.hoovesandpaws.org/shelterluv.html, click on the pet’s photo to view their full bio, then click “Apply for Adoption” to get started. Please give us a few days to review your application. If approved, you’ll receive an email from adoptions@hoovesandpaws.org to schedule a meet and greet (including any necessary dog-to-dog introductions). Story
Thumper is a 3-year-old beagle mix with a heart as big as his floppy ears! This lovable boy is the ultimate social butterfly—he adores people, dogs, and even gets along with cats. His friendly and easygoing nature makes him the perfect companion for a family looking to add some extra joy to their home. Thumper’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. He came to us from a hoarding case where he lived in a house with at least 15 other dogs. Despite his challenging start, Thumper’s spirit has remained bright and full of love, and he’s ready to embrace a future filled with care and companionship. Thumper is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all his vaccines, so he’s ready to settle into his forever home. While he’s still learning his leash manners (sometimes his enthusiasm leads to pulling), he’s making great progress thanks to our amazing volunteers who take him on daily walks. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate pup who’s eager to be part of your life, Thumper might be the perfect match. He’s ready to make your heart THUMP with joy! 🐾 Ready to Adopt? Here's How! Story
Mama Mia is a fun-loving, energetic adult tricolor hound dog who is about 3 years old and 40 lbs. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative.  A social girl at heart, Mama Mia knows no strangers and wants to greet everyone who comes her way, young and old, with tail wags and full-body wiggles. She is practicing her manners and learning to sit for attention.  Mama Mia is active and loves to run and jump. She would make an excellent companion for anyone seeking a dog who wants to walk, run, or hike. She is good with other dogs and would enjoy a fellow doggy playmate.  The ideal adopter for Mama Mia would be someone patient who understands that indoor living is new to her. She responds well to positive reinforcement and learns quickly. With a little bit of training, this girl will provide a lifetime of love. Apply for Mama Mia today if you're looking for a girl who can match your pace on the running trail and on the couch for a TV marathon.  Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match.   The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks.  The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, the adoption fee is $150. ##2700142##
