Story
Meet Samantha !! This little lady is so happy!! A spunky love bug that’s high on life and ready to be loved. She came to us from a family and she was so thin. Poor girl ate like she hadn’t been fed in days. She’s still a bit thin but recovering well. Samantha is a female and approx 2 years old. She appears to be a Beagle mix. She weighs 19 pounds and is full grown aside from regaining a few more pounds of weight. She looks so much bigger in her photos that she actually is in person. She is already spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. She is heartworm negative and on monthly preventatives. Samantha has done very well with other dogs of all sizes. She is very playful and loves having another dog around. She’s not fostered with cats but her previous owner said she chases them. She has done great with all the kids she has met so far and seems to really love them. She does do a lot of excited jumping so that should be considered with small kids that could get knocked over. She has done well with potty training when taken out regularly. It takes her some time to learn a new routine. She’s been great on car rides. She is leash trained but pulls a lot when excited. She is crate trained but is really good at escaping the wire type unless it’s zip tied. She does better in a stronger crate or the plastic type. Samantha has a pretty high energy level. She loves to run around the yard and has a fair amount of playful energy. She does have a very cuddly side to her and she loves attention from her people. She absolutely loves to show you how high she can jump. It’s like her thing. Always jumping super high in the air all around you. Maybe planning to stay a parkour career. She’s not horrible about jumping on you but will when excited. She has not had any issues sharing food, treats or toys with people. She does not share well with other dogs. She came to us starved and that likely has a lot to do with her being possessive over food items. Samantha is a fun and loving girl. As long as she gets her playtime and exercise she’s an easy girl to have around. She’s a great family dog and loves everyone she meets. ***She is currently not very vocal at all but beagles are known for barking, howling etc. If you cannot handle the potential of her becoming a vocal pup then please pick another breed. Beagles have been known to escape yards if left outside unattended. She has not tried that but it’s recommended never to leave a hound alone outside. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (She will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com or for more pics and faster response visit our Facebook Page directly with questions or to get an application.‼️

Story
Lenny is available for adoption! Lenny, and Squiggy are two small 2 year old beagles who are available for adoption. They do love to play with each other but they love other dogs as well, and would even do OK as the only dog as long as they get lots of attention, so they don't need to be adopted together. Lenny is a happy dog that enjoys a lap, a scratch and a good TV show. He likes to run around outside and is now learning to walk on a leash. He sleeps in his crate at night with no issues and sleeps through the night. He gets along well with the two other foster dogs in his home. He loves to play with them or snuggle up in the same bed. He does good in a car and likes to see the sites. Most of all he just wants to hang out with his people. Lenny will follow you everywhere! He hasn't shown any anxiety when being left alone for a short time but he does have other dogs to keep him company. He is a small framed dog and should weigh 17-19 pounds but right now is a little chubby at about 25 pounds, so we do have him on a diet. We want to make sure his adopter continues to work with him on his weight loss. As you can see in some of the pictures, when he is relaxing his tongue will slip outside his mouth in a very cute pose. Someone is going to be very lucky to get this little guy. For an application go to www.homesfurhounds.org

Story
Squiggy is a lovable little 2-year old beagle who wants to be loved. He wants to be with you wherever you are. He warmed up to his foster parents pretty quickly, and is warming up to the other foster dog in the home. Once he gets to know you his tail wags non-stop. He has lived with other dogs and got along with them, but he is a little jealous of the other foster dog in his new home, especially if he is on the couch with his foster mom and the dog approaches, but he is getting better. They do sleep together now and he is starting to play with her. Squiggy was a hunting dog who probably was not a good hunter. He is not used to loud noises like traffic, garbage trucks, construction, etc. He does OK on the leash but is a little fearful of being outside because of the noises so he needs secure leashing. He isn't 100% housebroken yet, partly due to his fear of the noises outside, but he can go overnight or for hours without a bathroom break. But he will go out to do his business when he is ready. So far only one accident. Squiggy gained a lot of weight at the shelter, so he will need to lose close to 10 pounds. We have started working with him but whoever adopts him will need to continue to work on the weight loss. He is healthy, vaccinated, and HW negative. Surprisingly, not a fast eater and takes a while to start and finish eating, although he will whine and growl a little if the other foster dog approaches him while he is eating. He will just need time to get used to being a city pet. He will be a great pet for someone he can give all his love to. For an application go to www.homesfurhounds.org

Story
IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Snickerdoodle! Snickerdoodle is about 3 years old and weighs about 20 lbs. We think she is a Beagle (just a guess). Snickerdoodle is a quiet, shy and timid girl who is learning what it means to live in a house as a companion. She is incredibly sweet but will need time to adjust when she goes to her forever home. She will need a patient adopter who will let her take the time to settle in and feel comfortable. Snickerdoodle takes cues from the resident dogs in her foster home and she learns from them so she will require another young confident and playful dog in her forever home. Snickerdoodle is not in a foster home with children, but we feel she would be ok with calm and respectful children 5 years and up. Snickerdoodle is doing well on her house training. She sleeps in her crate at night but does not like to be in a crate during the day. Snickerdoodle will do be in a home where someone is around a good portion of the day. Snickerdoodle is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. The Adoption Fee is $375.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**
