Story
Meet Samantha !! This little lady is so happy!! A spunky love bug that’s high on life and ready to be loved. She came to us from a family and she was so thin. Poor girl ate like she hadn’t been fed in days. She’s still a bit thin but recovering well. Samantha is a female and approx 2 years old. She appears to be a Beagle mix. She weighs 19 pounds and is full grown aside from regaining a few more pounds of weight. She looks so much bigger in her photos that she actually is in person. She is already spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. She is heartworm negative and on monthly preventatives. Samantha has done very well with other dogs of all sizes. She is very playful and loves having another dog around. She’s not fostered with cats but her previous owner said she chases them. She has done great with all the kids she has met so far and seems to really love them. She does do a lot of excited jumping so that should be considered with small kids that could get knocked over. She has done well with potty training when taken out regularly. It takes her some time to learn a new routine. She’s been great on car rides. She is leash trained but pulls a lot when excited. She is crate trained but is really good at escaping the wire type unless it’s zip tied. She does better in a stronger crate or the plastic type. Samantha has a pretty high energy level. She loves to run around the yard and has a fair amount of playful energy. She does have a very cuddly side to her and she loves attention from her people. She absolutely loves to show you how high she can jump. It’s like her thing. Always jumping super high in the air all around you. Maybe planning to stay a parkour career. She’s not horrible about jumping on you but will when excited. She has not had any issues sharing food, treats or toys with people. She does not share well with other dogs. She came to us starved and that likely has a lot to do with her being possessive over food items. Samantha is a fun and loving girl. As long as she gets her playtime and exercise she’s an easy girl to have around. She’s a great family dog and loves everyone she meets. ***She is currently not very vocal at all but beagles are known for barking, howling etc. If you cannot handle the potential of her becoming a vocal pup then please pick another breed. Beagles have been known to escape yards if left outside unattended. She has not tried that but it’s recommended never to leave a hound alone outside. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (She will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com or for more pics and faster response visit our Facebook Page directly with questions or to get an application.‼️

Story
Tilly arrived at our facility as a stray, and has already absolutely charmed the whole team! Tilly is the sweetest, gentlest, tiniest old lady who just wants a soft place to land and enjoy her golden years. Because she arrived as a stray, we know almost nothing about her past, but we can tell you a bit about what we’ve discovered since she arrived. Tilly arrived FILTHY dirty, underweight, heartworm positive, and with incredibly poor dental health. Even with all the discomfort she must be feeling, she has been nothing but loving to everyone she’s met, and our medical team is here to help her (and her future owner) on her path to recovery. She is looking (and smelling) much better after two lengthy baths, and a nail trim already has her feeling like a whole new pup. Because she is heartworm positive and not yet spayed, she will need to go home foster-to-adopt, so that she can finish her treatment under our care before everything is finalized. She still needs a little work on potty training, but loves her crate, which will make training her much easier! As well, she is very quiet (we have yet to hear her bark) and mellow, and could be the perfect companion to a lot of types of owners or families. All she asks for is a loving home with a soft, Tilly-sized bed to nap in.
