Rex is a loving, 4-year-old Beagle/Australian Shepherd mix (53.3% Beagle/47.7% Australian Shepard) who weighs about 33 pounds and is looking for his forever home. He enjoys meeting people and giving hugs and kisses, but he needs time to build trust and has important boundaries. Rex should be the only pet in an adult-only home. He is protective of food, toys, and people, and will do best in an environment where he does not feel stressed about needing to share them with other dogs. Additionally, his personal space must always be respected as he has a history of reacting to being startled while sleeping. When given the opportunity to approach people for affection rather than being approached, he is a wonderfully, loving boy. Rex needs an experienced, dog-savvy adopter—ideally someone familiar with herding breeds and resource guarding—who can provide consistent structure, training, mental and physical enrichment, and predictable routines. He must be allowed to settle in at his own pace, which may take months or longer. With patience and commitment, Rex has the potential to become a trusting, wonderful companion; he has already made strong progress with a knowledgeable foster. We are seeking an adopter in Virginia or the surrounding area.

Layla is a 2-year-old female Beagle mix and an absolute sweetheart. She warms up to women a little faster than men, but she's learning that everyone in her foster family is there to love and care for her. Layla is adorable when she plays with her toys! She's good with other dogs and is learning that playing with them is fun! She appears to be housebroken and crate-trained already! Layla is looking for someone who will give her the patience, love, and reassurance she needs as she continues to come out of her shell Adoption fees are $350 unless otherwise stated. Senior dog adoption fees are $200. 100% of adoption fees are put back into the rescue so that another lonely and neglected dog can be rescued. We are grateful for your interest. We do not have a lot of information on Jack’s past, only that a Good Samaritan rescued this sweet beagle boy from a bad situation. We have no idea why he is so terrified of people, but we have noted that he is generally less afraid of women and that he is terrified of anyone carrying anything in their hands. Jack is such a handsome boy and it is heartbreaking to see him so scared of everything. His eyes say it all. We’re pretty sure there is a lot of love inside this sweet boy that he would like to share with someone. As scared as he is, he has never shown any aggression towards people. He even went through multiple surgeries to correct cherry eye in both eyes and he was a perfect patient during recovery when he had to wear the awful ‘cone of shame’ and had to have eye drops multiple times every day. Does he/she jump fences? He definitely could jump or climb a wire fence or chain link fence. He did escape from a foster home yard once and it was scary! His current yard has privacy fencing. Adoption donation: $175 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.
