Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Sage is a truly lovely lady. Found as a stray, she previously lived in a busy home with toddlers, a baby, a cat, and two other dogs. Despite her age, she was always eager to roll and play, especially with the young female shepherd in the home. She still hops around like a puppy and loves to play—she’s just a bit of a noisy player! Crates and kennels aren’t her thing, and she becomes very distressed when confined. Because of this, she should be in a home where she doesn’t need to be crated. Or with a family that can help work work with crate training.  Sage adores toys, especially bones, and she is extremely food motivated. Most of all, she LOVES people. She’ll follow you everywhere, soaking up every bit of affection she can—her happy kisses never stop, and she thrives on attention and closeness. Sage is ready to find her forever family, one that will give her the love, comfort, and companionship she deserves for the rest of her life. Could that be you?    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 29, 2025, 8:13 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Frieda – A Quiet Spirit with a Heart Ready to Bloom Frieda came to us frightened and carrying one of the largest hernias our vet had ever seen. Thankfully, she’s had successful surgery, lots of rest, and time to heal—not just physically, but emotionally too. She’s still shy around people and may dart away if things feel uncertain, but never with aggression. Just a soft soul learning to feel safe. Despite her hesitation, Frieda has made sweet progress: she’ll lounge contentedly on the bed, do a happy little dance for her meals, and dig the perfect cozy nest on the couch. Her foster mom has even snuck in some gentle pets while Frieda relaxes nearby—one small victory at a time. Frieda loves the company of other dogs and cats and would make an ideal companion for a pet who needs a buddy. She navigates a doggy door like a pro and enjoys the freedom of a fenced yard where she can play and explore at her own pace. She’s not the dog who’ll jump into your lap on day one—but for someone patient, quiet, and kind, Frieda will slowly open her heart. And when she does, the love will be as real as it gets. Great with dogs and cats Still learning to trust humans Perfect for a calm home with a doggy friend Couch artist and food-dance enthusiast Are you the safe place Frieda’s been waiting for?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 24, 2025, 11:56 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. "My Home to Yours” “This is Ollie, beagle/hound mix, female. She is a sweet dog, very gentle and loving. She does great with other dogs, not sure about cats. She loves to take naps and play with toys. It would be great if she had a fenced in yard as she does like to explore with her nose. She loves to walk and lay in the sun.” We are told she is current with vaccinations. If this looks like a dog, you might be interested in meeting, please apply for Ollie by going to our website at www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org.   We have had numerous requests from citizens in our county to help them rehome their pets, but they are willing to keep them in the home until it happens, rather than bring them to the overflowing shelter at Campbell County Animal Control near Yellow Branch. We are listing those cats and dogs on our website as "My Home to Yours." We ask that interested adopters fill out the FOAC application, and we will pass it along to the family wanting to rehome. We cannot guarantee health, temperament, or behavior for these pets, as we have not met them. However, we are happy to act as a resource for issues that may arise. **For pets not spayed or neutered, we are happy to help set that up! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.JOEY is one of the ten dogs brought into the shelter two weeks ago after their family moved away and left them behind. Joey and his brother JC are the shyest and least social of all the dogs, and we are working hard to earn their trust. Here’s what one of our volunteers says about Joey: “I had to convince him to come out of the kennel to see me, and once he did, I had to then work with him and let him think that everything was his idea before he would cooperate with me.” Joey, is about 30 pounds. And he could be a beagle mix. These pictures make him look like a miniature St. Bernard! Because we have no clue what the family background was like for the dogs, other than ill care and neglect, we feel they would be better in a home where there are no young children running around. To apply to adopt this three-year-old, or his brother, or any other dogs at our shelter, please start with an application: https://www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org/info/adoption   PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 23, 2025, 7:07 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Millie arrived as a stray, and remains unclaimed. she went to a foster home. She is being loved and cared for, and given all the attention. She missed for many years when she apparently was used to generate puppies. She was a good puppy mom, but now she deserves a chance to be a beloved pet. her foster family realizes what she needs and is willing to give her the time to absorb being alone with no duties. Millie does not appreciate digs that are larger than she is, and seems more comfortable around smaller dogs. We will continue to monitor her adjustment to being a pet as she learns to live in harmony with others. Millie is going to be spayed toward the end of November, once her skin infection clears up. She was positive for exposure to Lyme disease so that will also be treated.  Millie weighs 22 pounds, and is between six and eight years old.
