Story
Onyx is a 2.5 year old Rottie pup who is a really sweet but shy boy. He loves to play with his rottie foster brother, and have zoomies, He would do great as a single child. Onyx still has a lot of puppy behavior. He is very strong, and needs a strong handler who will not mind occasional pulling on the leash. He is very affectionate and loving. When his foster mom is standing next to him outside and tells him to sit, he immediately does so and then he'll offer his paw if she says "shake". Then if she asks "pets?", he puts his head up against her leg and he gets pets. By then he usually melts to the ground and ends up upside down, seeking belly rubs. He is very smart and sensitive. Positive reinforcement in the form of treats and verbal praise is highly effective to teach him replacement behaviors. A home with a fully fenced yard is mandatory, as well as a parent who has had rottweiler experience. Onnie came from a high kill shelter where he was surrendered by his previous owner. He was very scared when we first got him, but with decompression, he has now settled down. Onyx is currently about 80 lb and growing, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He is heartworm negative, and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. Sweet Onyx is being fostered in Houston, and can be adopted in a radius of 200 miles. To be considered to adopt Onyx, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences.

Story
Hi my name is Chandler. I guess the official name is HADR Chandler, since I’m the newest rescue at HADR. This might be the first time I’ve had a name and it feels great! The streets were not very nice to me. And most humans turned away when they saw me. You know they say that Dobermans have a sixth sense. We can read people, and we know who is good and who has issues. One day I was wondering about looking for food and shelter. And I came across this one house that just seemed so peaceful, so safe. I thought this would be a nice place to stay for a while. Nice fenced yard and I could see the other dogs playing. Then this lady came to the gate and let me in. My spidery senses must have been really strong that day. She tells me she is a foster to dogs who don’t have any home. And she can help me find a home. A real forever home! Now I’m still trying to understand all of that. But I sense it’s something really special. I will keep you posted on how it goes. So far it’s been pretty amazing! The HADR humans say I need to gain some weight, get stronger. But so far I’m doing just fine.Apply to Adopt or Foster at www.hadr.org.

Story
Adorable Brice is more active than his siblings. Brice and his littermates were surrendered by their previous owner to our vet, from where we took them in. Brice is borderline rambunctious with a lot of puppy energy, and will benefit from a second playful dog at home. He is very affectionate and extremely intelligent. He lives with doggie and kittie siblings and gets along with everyone. Brice is around 14 lb, and growing. He is current on his vaccination, is neutered, microchipped and kept on deworming schedule, and heartworm and flea preventatives. His adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, Harness and Interstate Health Certificate for our out of state adopters. He can be transported to any state in USA and Canada. Canadian applicants will have to accompany puppies under 8 months at the customs. To adopt our puppies, yards, if any, must be fully and adequately fenced. We do not accept invisible or electric fences. Adoption applications are available at savesomesouls.com, and if shortlisted as a match, we will reach out to you to schedule a facetime or video chat to meet our pups. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.
