Story
Onyx is a 2.5 year old Rottie pup who is a really sweet but shy boy. He loves to play with his rottie foster brother, and have zoomies, He would do great as a single child. Onyx still has a lot of puppy behavior. He is very strong, and needs a strong handler who will not mind occasional pulling on the leash. He is very affectionate and loving. When his foster mom is standing next to him outside and tells him to sit, he immediately does so and then he'll offer his paw if she says "shake". Then if she asks "pets?", he puts his head up against her leg and he gets pets. By then he usually melts to the ground and ends up upside down, seeking belly rubs. He is very smart and sensitive. Positive reinforcement in the form of treats and verbal praise is highly effective to teach him replacement behaviors. A home with a fully fenced yard is mandatory, as well as a parent who has had rottweiler experience. Onnie came from a high kill shelter where he was surrendered by his previous owner. He was very scared when we first got him, but with decompression, he has now settled down. Onyx is currently about 80 lb and growing, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He is heartworm negative, and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. Sweet Onyx is being fostered in Houston, and can be adopted in a radius of 200 miles. To be considered to adopt Onyx, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences.

Story
Maya is approx 11 months old, 90 pounds, spayed, chipped & UTD on shots. She is now house trained, gets along great with all dogs, big & small, shows no food/treat aggression of any kind. Her previous owners had 2 cats & she was good with them. She lived with young kids (2 under 5) & did great & has done superb with my 13 yr old & his friends too. In short, this girl has NO mean bone in her body with a very mellow demeanor. She is still skeptical about a crate due to having been kenneled 8-10+ hours/day but we’ve been working on that. She does fine loose in the house with the other three dogs I have. She is still very leary about cars after being dumped, but a lil coaxing & loading her up with the others makes it easier. She loves men. A little skeptical around women at first, as she was abused by one but once she warms up, she is just a big fur ball FULL OF LOVE. To adopt Maya, please apply at www.htxdogrescue.org.

Story
Hi my name is Chandler. I guess the official name is HADR Chandler, since I’m the newest rescue at HADR. This might be the first time I’ve had a name and it feels great! The streets were not very nice to me. And most humans turned away when they saw me. You know they say that Dobermans have a sixth sense. We can read people, and we know who is good and who has issues. One day I was wondering about looking for food and shelter. And I came across this one house that just seemed so peaceful, so safe. I thought this would be a nice place to stay for a while. Nice fenced yard and I could see the other dogs playing. Then this lady came to the gate and let me in. My spidery senses must have been really strong that day. She tells me she is a foster to dogs who don’t have any home. And she can help me find a home. A real forever home! Now I’m still trying to understand all of that. But I sense it’s something really special. I will keep you posted on how it goes. So far it’s been pretty amazing! The HADR humans say I need to gain some weight, get stronger. But so far I’m doing just fine.Apply to Adopt or Foster at www.hadr.org.

We invite you to read through Brisket's journey and consider how you might assist him. â\x9D¤ï¸\x8Fâ€\x8D🩹â\x9D¤ï¸\x8Fâ€\x8D🩹â\x9D¤ï¸\x8Fâ€\x8D🩹Brisket arrived at HADR approximately two months ago, having endured a neglectful situation.Fortunately, a compassionate individual began feeding him through the fence. One day, Brisket managed to escape and chose to follow this kind person home. They subsequently arranged for temporary foster care, which led him to HADR.While under the attentive care of our exceptional veterinary team, it was discovered that Brisket has Stage 1 Renal Disease and is also heartworm positive. Despite these challenges, he is bravely taking it like a champ! Just as he did when he followed the good Samaritan that day.He is truly a survivor. â\x9D¤ï¸\x8Fâ€\x8D🩹The costs associated with his medication and prescription specialized food are significant.Below, you will find a link to where you can purchase Giftcards towards Briskets bags of Veterinary Prescription Food.Every first Friday of the month is our $5 Friday, where all funds raised will go towards and contribute to Brisket's care.Given Brisket's medical needs, his adoption may not be easy or straightforward, so we are seeking a long-term foster home. As always, HADR will cover all of his veterinary care and food requirements. We kindly ask that you to consider open your heart and home to this sweet boy.We believe he is worth it, and we are confident that our Facebook Friends and community can make a meaningful difference in his life.Gift Cards- towards his food:https://www.chewy.com/.../houston-area-doberman-rescue...Monetary support:Please mention Brisket’s name in the Donationhttps://www.hadr.org/give/hadr-general-fund-2025Questions please email: contact@hadr.orgApply to Adopt or Foster at www.hadr.org.
