With a face like that, you saw it, and a name like Raja, I'm pretty sure he was supposed to guard a royal castle but instead he took a few clown classes and caught the first bus pointed somewhere fun. He may have the looks for it but this big ol’ boy was not born for the “guard-dog” life. Unless its guarding you from the windshield wipers in the car- that is a mission he is deeeeply dedicated to. Raja is actually a gentle, prayerful soul whose greatest mission in life is loving his people deeply and, again, protecting them from those unpredictable and suspiciously energetic windshield wipers. He rides beautifully in the car- though he does expect that most trips will start (or end) in a pup cup or a kolache. (Honestly?Me too. And in his case, he is usually right. He has earned it afterall.)I will warn you now, Raja has a level of pretty privilege that defies explanation- drive-thru workers hand him snacks, on the house, and his local kolache spot sends his favorites at the first sight of his foster mom, even when he’s not present. Charisma like that cannot be taught, only appreciated and admired. In the car, Raja takes his role as protector seriously so lets go back to his life’s mission- protecting you from the windshield wipers- those untrustworthy little demons. Rest assured, if they act up, Raja is on it. He dutifully sits in the passenger seat, head out the window, breeze flapping the ears and folds around, but never distracting him from the moment those wipers get to movin’. He knows how to give a subtle warning though, he starts low with a few barks so don’t worry, he doesn't escalate beyond the appropriate. Raja is wonderful with other dogs of all sizes. He can be bouncy and playful, but he has great dog manners and knows how to take breaks when playtime winds down. That said, he doesn’t need a canine companion to be happy. Give him a ball, a patch of grass, and a person to love, and he will be heart-full and set. Truly, this boy is one of the best self-entertainers you could meet (or watch for entertainment) and watching him happily amuse himself is pure joy. He does need a home with a yard (that grass patch matters), and he’s looking for a cat-free home. He once loved a stuffed toy shaped like a cat and, bless his heart, does not understand the difference between plush and pet (or so the lore goes.) Better safe than sorry, right? Raja is smart, affectionate, and deeply bonded to his people. Meet Ellie — the Loyal Brainiac Shepherd With a Heart of Gold! If you’ve ever dreamed of having your very own shadow, personal security detail, emotional support supervisor, and bathroom-monitoring specialist… allow us to introduce Ellie — a five-year-old German Shepherd with the loyalty level set firmly at stage-five clinger (in the cutest way possible). Ellie is a certified smarty-pants. She’s incredibly food-motivated (like… will work for snacks), which makes training her an absolute dream. Pair those shepherd genes with a brain that is always online, and you get a dog who basically reads your mind. She’s the girl who looks at you with those wise, soft shepherd eyes like she already knows the plan for the day — and probably already made a better one. She met a big confident male? No problem. A bouncy excited female who thought Ellie was a trampoline? Still no problem. A smaller dog being wildly rude and all up in her space? Ellie said, “Ma’am… please,” and went on with her day. Even when another dog put way too much pressure on her with overly persistent sniffing, Ellie handled it like a total champ. She’s not a high-energy, wrestle-mania kind of gal — she’s more of a “let’s vibe together, then maybe we can be goofy later” type. In her foster home she enjoys hanging out and playing in the backyard once she warms up. She’s perfectly happy living with other dogs who respect her pace, but she’d also be just as happy being someone’s one-and-only. Ellie is excellent on leash (she’s sensitive to leash pressure, which makes guiding her super easy), and she’d do wonderfully in a house or an apartment thanks to her calm, steady energy. Ellie lives with a young child in her foster home and does great. She just needs dog-savvy kiddos who understand boundaries — like when she’s in the mood for pets and when she’s like, “Actually, no thank you, tiny human.” There’s no strict age requirement — it’s all about respectful kids who know how to love a dog the right way. Ellie was way too interested in the resident cat during her test, so she will need a cat-free home. Ellie warms up slowly, but once she’s in… she’s ALL in. Take a second to sit back & relax, meet Molly Mae! Molly went on an exciting road trip with her foster brother last year in hopes to find her forever family. Although she hasn’t found them just yet, we know they are out there somewhere! On her trip, Molly traveled over 3,600 miles in a car. Woah!! Not only is she totally interesting and ready to share all of her world traveling stories with you, but she’s most of all looking for love. The first thing you will notice about this girl is how intelligent she is. Molly is also nothing short of an impressive performance dog with her sit, down, and touch skills. She also has amazing recall, and has mastered “heel” and “leave it” when she passes by other dogs on her daily walks. She loves being brushed too. One of our volunteers loves her so much, he comes multiple times a week to sit with her and brush her. She sits perfectly for him for 45 minutes straight, never leaving his side even when new doggies walk by. It melted my heart, and it surely will melt yours too. Molly is a big fan of her daily routine, and she hopes you will help her create a new one in her new home. The girl knows what she likes! She is calm and relaxed when you take her out. When you want her to go back in she just walks right in! She is very food motivated and loves a good treat (don’t we all!). She even let a 4 year old train her! She sat for him, and waited patiently for him to share some of his yummy cheese stick. Molly is not the jumping around ball of energy type, she is respectful of her surroundings and the people in it! Little tiny kids can be a little overwhelming with all of the bouncing and kid friendly chaos, so we believe Molly would do better with kids 7 years and up. Or children that will be able to understand her boundaries. Family coming over to visit with younger kids should not be a problem for her, this is just something she prefers! Mollys interest in treats would make for a super fun training session! Molly is the perfect example of a dog that is just happy to be with you, no matter where you are. Molly really likes to bond with her people. She is so loyal and loving, when her forever family comes to get her I have no doubt it will be the happiest day of her life! She would be happy to stay home and put around the backyard too! Speaking of homes and yards, this girl needs one! Having a structured area for her to play and mosey around in would be her dream. Molly does not need another dog in the home, but if she were to have one she prefers to be with more submissive, medium energy males that will participate in her similar play style. Molly can be a little rowdy with her best friend sometimes, but it’s all fun and games. Molly would be perfectly content being your one and only too! No kitty cats for this queen, they are just way too fun to chase and bark at. Her ideal family would be those that love some good quality time. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.
