I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereFuchsia is a playful, curious 3-month-old shepherd mix puppy who’s ready to bring a whole lot of joy (and just the right amount of chaos!) into your life. Friendly, wiggly, and eager to learn, she’s full of puppy energy and affection. She loves people and is especially fond of kids. In her foster home, she quickly bonded with a dog-savvy 10-year-old, happily curling up in her lap for cuddles. Fuchsia is also super food motivated, which makes training a breeze. She settles nicely in a crate after a few minutes and is already sleeping almost through the night. Fuchsia will thrive in a home that can offer structure, routine, and plenty of positive reinforcement. She's looking for an adopter who’s ready to guide her through socialization, training, and all the adventures of growing up. I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereHi my name is Thistle! I'm a three month year old female pup. My breed is German Shepherd Mix. Some of my siblings have white and brown fur and white eyes! I love human interaction, but I can get bitey in my excitement, but I'm teething so cut me a break wouldya? I love playing with fabric toys and I like to fetch them. I also enjoy a good chew on a natural chewy. I'm learning to alert my foster family when I'm ready to go potty by whining to get their attention. It's going well! I should be potty trained in no time. So if you're looking for a sweet, fun, and loyal forever companion contact the nice folks at OAS.   Click  here  to learn how to adopt, and submit your  adoption questionnaire . Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereThis four-month-old, 41-pound puppy is all heart, legs, and potential! Pancho is a playful, social, German shepherd mix with a gentle soul and a curious mind. He's living happily in a foster home with two adult dogs, a child, and even a cat, and he's learning the ropes of home life like a champ. Pancho starts out a little shy with new people, but with patience and maybe a few treats, he warms up and shows his sweet, affectionate side. That includes soft kisses and cozy naps at your feet. He's crate trained, walks nicely on leash, and is working on basic manners like sit, gentle treat-taking, and polite play. Pancho will thrive with adopters who understand the needs of a working breed puppy. He has high energy, a sharp mind, and is still learning about the world. Puppy classes, consistent routines, and lots of love will help him grow into the amazing dog he's meant to be. He enjoys toys, training games, friendly dogs, and being part of the action. What he needs most is a patient, active family ready to keep him learning and thriving. If you are looking for a loyal sidekick with a big future, Pancho might be your pup! Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereTwyla is a smart, spunky German Shepherd puppy who’s already proving to be a real gem. At just 3 months old, she’s playful, loyal, and full of potential. After bouncing back like a champ from parvo, she’s now thriving in her foster home. She plays sweetly with the resident dogs, follows her foster around like a shadow, and impresses everyone with her good manners. Twyla takes correction well, is gentle with boundaries, and is mostly potty pad trained. She’s not overly destructive, and her only crime so far was chewing up a laptop charger (honestly, not the worst choice!). She’s starting to love walks and getting braver by the day. She would do great in a home with another playful pup, or as a solo sidekick for someone ready to guide her with patience and positive reinforcement. Like any young puppy, Twyla will need training and continued socialization, but she’s off to a fantastic start! Click here to learn how to adopt and submit your adoption questionnaire.July 1, 2025, 11:16 pm

I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereMeet Heathbar, the Velcro dog of your dreams. This sweet boy is eager to learn, protect, and love. He’s still learning table manners and basic commands, but he’s gaining confidence on the leash and has taken to crate training very well. He would do well with someone who will take him on long walks, runs, and hikes, and then end the day with a long cuddle on the couch. At this point, he doesn't love being left alone, but with time to to a new home this will likely improve. He's food motivated, which will be great for rewards based training and helping you bond as you get to know each other.  If you’re looking for a furry shadow to join you on an adventurous life,  Heathbar is the dog for you. He can have some big feelings walking by other dogs, and might bark to let them know. He will do best with a human willing to work on his leash reactivity, so he can be his very best self. He may be able to live with another calm dog with slow introductions, or he would be happy to be your only pet. Heathbar is around 7 years old and is 75 pounds. Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereAt 6 years old and 65 pounds, Gracie is a lovely German Shepherd mix who’s all about the quiet joys in life—soft pets, kind humans, and taking things at her own pace. She was found as a stray, but she’s settled into her foster home with grace (pun intended!) and is now ready to find a loving home. Gracie is sweet as can be and loves gentle attention from her people. She is proving to be potty trained in her foster home and can be left alone for several hours okay, potty breaks in the yard every several hours is working fine. She loves meeting new people and getting attention, she would likely prefer to live in a home with frequent human interaction. She is getting to be very good on leash and loves exploration time to sniff around and have doggie fun. She enjoys playing fetch!  In shelter playgroups, she preferred to do her own thing—sniffing the yard, observing the action, and keeping it low-key. She’s more of an independent gal, but she’s polite and calm around other dogs and would do well with appropriately matched friends or as a solo pup. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s mellow, affectionate, and just the right amount of independent, Gracie might be your match! I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:12Frisée is a gorgeous, just under 2-year-old Belgian Malinois mix (about 53 pounds) with a heart that just wants to love and be loved. While the shelter has her feeling shut down and overwhelmed, her sweet side still shines. Frisée seeks out people for gentle cuddles, rests her head on your lap, and enjoys quiet moments together. She’s got that smart-yet-chill-energy, treat-motivated, and knows “sit”! Out on walks, she does well on leash and always checks in with her person. Frisée would thrive with an experienced adopter who understands her breed and can help her build confidence at her own pace. She’s independent with other dogs and may do best as a solo pup or with a calm, well-matched friend. Once she feels safe, she’ll be your loyal cuddle buddy.         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Oakland Animal Services (OAS) (@oaklandanimalservices)  July 8, 2025, 11:43 am
