He’s playful and can catch a ball midair like an absolute champ. If fetch is your love language, Kris is already fluent! His foster family reports Kris is the definition of easy. He’s fully potty trained, relaxed, and happy to entertain himself with toys or settle in beside you once he’s had his fun. He has wonderful house manners and has an all-around good-natured temperament. He knows cues like sit, enjoys learning, and loves pleasing his people. He’s excellent on leash, making walks smooth and enjoyable. He’s curious and loves exploring, but always with a calm, steady energy. Kris was a family dog before arriving at the shelter, and you can feel how ready he is to be part of a home again. He’d be happy as your one-and-only companion or potentially a good match for another mellow dog. This smiley gentleman can’t wait to meet the new family he’ll love forever. I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereZelda is a spunky, fun-loving puppy. She’s a 4-month-old, 17-pound German shepherd mix. Friendly, playful, and energetic, Zelda is always ready for her next adventure and would love an active home to match her enthusiasm for life. In her foster home, Zelda has proven to be very social and adaptable. She does well with resident dogs and cats, and she absolutely adores affection and being held. She is known for her feisty streak, likely thanks to keeping up with her mischievous foster brother who steals all her toys. She also has an adorable seal like bark that never fails to make people laugh. Zelda will need consistent training, continued socialization, and plenty of exercise and mental enrichment to help her grow into a well-mannered adult. Her ideal adopter is prepared for the time, patience, and commitment needed to raise a smart, energetic puppy, and has some familiarity with shepherd type breeds.  Click here to learn how to adopt and submit your adoption questionnaire.February 7, 2026, 1:40 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog I:4This dog is available to meet by appointment only. Cloud is a 3-year-old, 64-pound German shepherd mix. She appears quietly serious at first, but her temporary foster reported this girl is bright, vocal, agile, and loves to explore. Once she feels safe, her personality starts to peek through. Cloud is sensitive, and the shelter environment has been overwhelming. She’ll do best with an adopter who can be patient and ready to help her build confidence, especially when it comes to being alone. A home where someone is around most of the time, at least initially, would set her up for success. On leash, Cloud stays loose and polite. She’s calm when meeting other dogs and tends to be independent, not a rough-and-tumble player. She may thrive with a confident canine friend, though she could also do well as a solo dog with regular dog buddies. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who just needs the right environment to blossom, Cloud might be your girl. Please submit an adoption questionnaire to meet her. February 8, 2026, 2:26 pm

Story
Cliff is a gorgeous Malinois who is sweet, friendly with everyone, and loves being with his people. Like most Malinois, Cliff is a high energy dog who likes having a job and routine. He needs a minimum of 1-2 hours of exercise per day, and plenty of mental stimulation as well. Cliff is very toy motivated and loves to play fetch and tug. He is always outgoing with people and does great with other dogs. He is 100% house trained and does awesome on leash, too. If you think Cliff could the dog for you, please fill out an adoption application!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Rufus is a young, energetic 60-pound boy who loves to play and stay active. He enjoys rough-and-tumble play with his dog buddies and gets along well with dogs of all sizes. He plays appropriately, avoids real conflicts, and would likely be a great candidate for dog parks or multi-dog homes. At night, he’s calm and quiet, sleeping peacefully through the evening. Rufus appears to be well house-trained, as he has not had any indoor accidents in foster care. He’s a smart, eager learner who already knows his “sit” command and will thrive with continued training. Like many young dogs, he’ll need some work on recall before enjoying off-leash freedom. Cat note: Rufus becomes very excited when teased by outdoor feral cats, so any home with resident cats would require careful introductions, management, and training. Rufus is an active, fun-loving companion who will do best with an adopter ready to match his energy and continue helping him learn and grow. (CF)

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:2This dog is available to meet by appointment only. This young, 54-pound Malinois mix is a sensitive, thoughtful girl who’s still learning that the world can be a kind place. Nyx can be shy with new people and startles at unfamiliar sounds, but give her a moment (and a few treats!) and she’ll bravely step forward, offer a sit, and lean in for gentle chin scratches that turn into real trust. Nyx enjoys dog playgroups and loves a good chase-style game. She’d do well with appropriately paired canine friends, or she’d be happy as your one-and-only with dog buddies on the side. True to her breed, she’s smart, active, and eager to learn, and she’s looking for an experienced, patient adopter who can offer structure, enrichment, and plenty of physical and mental outlets. Nyx has all the potential to truly shine in a stable home of her own. If you’re ready to help a bright, sensitive dog blossom, Nyx might be your match. Please submit an adoption questionnaire to meet her. February 13, 2026, 1:12 am
