He was surrendered to the local animal control shelter as he was abandoned by his owner with a family member who could not keep him or provide for him. He is 72 lbs. Luca is such a good boy! Typical of any shepherd mixes what have been through lot of changes in a short time, he was at first a bit nervous and unsure with us but is quickly adjusting. He does well with our volunteers, is interested in the outdoors and is just fun boy. He is an active dog that is looking for an equally active home. Luca prefers to be your one and only dog. hi Thomas, this stunning guy is a 2 year old Belgian Shepherd. He found himself in trouble when his owner surrendered him to a local animal control shelter. Thankfully. we were able to step in and help him. The previous owner for Thomas claims that he has lived with kids but he was too big for them so he brought him to a shelter. In the shelter, Thomas was very stressed and nervous, not surprising, so he was difficult to handle. Thankfully, our resident Mal expert Bruno was able to make a trip to the shelter to assess him. After taking him out of the kennel, he had no trouble handling him so he brought him to the rescue. While high energy, he has zero drive for actual work. He had little interest in regular toys, and none in bite toys. Thomas is relying purely on his absolutely stunning, wolf-like looks to be adored by his future family. He wants to be the trophy pet that will get the enjoyed the good, spoiled, active life. Having said all that, he is looking for a male-only home that is experienced with the breed. While he has lived with kids before, due to the fearful and anxious behavior he has showed in the shelter both at ACCT and our rescue, he will not be placed with children. Thomas has also shown reactionary behavior to women and needs a male only home. He will make a great pet for the right person who is looking for a non-working mal. ABOUT PRINCE Prince is a 4-year-old Lab mix with a big head and an even bigger heart. He came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Louisiana when they no longer had space for him. Now, he is ready for a fresh start! He loves greeting people with a stuffed toy in his mouth, proudly showing it off. He enjoys chasing tennis balls, zooming around our fenced fields, and is very eager to learn new things. Prince would thrive in a home that can provide structure, training, and plenty of outlets for his energy! Since Prince is food-motivated, it makes training a fun experience for him, all while keeping his mind busy. Prince is still working on his leash manners when he sees another dog, as he can be reactive. However, he has proven to do better off-leash, in fenced fields. While he isn't aggressive with other dogs, he is a little awkward at times and would likely do best with a more relaxed or laid-back doggy friend. With the right guidance and a safe place to call home, Prince is sure to blossom into a loyal and well-balanced companion! She came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Georgia when they no longer had space for her. There, Sarah had six beautiful babies, but all were at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space. We knew we could help Sarah and her pups, so they made the venture to Delaware! Shortly after arriving, Sarah let us know that she was over her puppies shark teeth and needed some TLC for herself. Since giving her kids up for adoption, Sarah has been happier than ever! While she is a friendly girl, she is true to her breed. The more time you spend with her, the more snuggly and loving she becomes. When she's not melting into someone's lap, Sarah is happy to explore outside. She loves going for long walks, learning new tricks, and making friends. Sarah has done well meeting other adult dogs, though we'd recommend dogs that can keep up with her size and energy! Auri is a full-grown, TINY (45 lb) GSD (possible mix) She had a rough past prior to her adoption but has grown into strong, happy pup. She is definitely a complicated lady who is working through some baggage but she has come a long way and will be a loyal, loving companion to the right adopters!Auri is an anxious and reactive pup. She can get pretty excited when she sees other dogs and is still learning to stay calm around strangers in her house. All that having been said, she has come a LOOONG way since we adopted her and I believe she can continue to grow with the right training and the right home situation. Auri would do well in a home with a fairly predictable schedule with humans that can take her for long walks and play with her and her toys. She is an absolute sweetheart who likes cuddles and licks noses. She is housetrained and not much of a barker (whining on the other hand...)
