Story
Everly is a 12-year-old Belgian Malinois with a big heart and an even bigger love for people. Don’t let her age fool you—she still has plenty of energy for walks, playtime, and spending time with the people she loves. She’s incredibly loyal and thrives when she’s included in the family’s daily routine. She’s fully house-trained, knows how to live comfortably indoors, and has wonderful manners around the home. Everly enjoys being active but is just as happy relaxing beside you after a fun day together. She forms strong bonds with her people and is looking for a family that will give her the love, attention, and stability she deserves. Like many Belgian Malinois, she’s intelligent and benefits from regular exercise and mental enrichment. She would do best with someone who understands the breed or is committed to keeping her engaged. Rehoming Everly is an incredibly difficult decision, and my only goal is finding the right home where she’ll be cherished for the rest of her life.

Story
Captain is a sweet, affectionate, people-loving dog looking for a stable forever home. I am currently in the military and may be deploying soon. With my schedule getting increasingly busy, I cannot give him the consistent time and attention he deserves long-term. Captain is about 7 years old, healthy, and up to date on all shots. He has a medium energy level, does not bark, and loves affection. He is great with kids and enjoys walks and car rides. He does not tear up the house. Training: crate trained, housebroken, and knows sit, paw, and lay down. Dog friendly: he does well with smaller dogs and has lived with two smaller dogs for the past two years. With dogs his size, he needs a proper introduction. He is not aggressive, he just loves to play and can be overly enthusiastic at first. Captain comes with a crate, 6-inch memory foam bed, food container, bowls, toys, rear-seat cover, and a pet grooming vacuum.

Story
Steffi is a 5 month old Belgian Malinois mix looking for a forever home with a family that understands and appreciates the characteristics of the breed. Mals are highly intelligent and eager to work and Steffi needs a home that will provide her with structure, training, exercise and daily mental stimulation (breed experience is required). Although very cute and super sweet, she will not be the right fit for every household. Steffi will require a significant commitment to training and mental activity so she can function perfectly as a family pet, while bred to be a working dog. She is currently in a foster home in Port Orange, where she gets socialized with other dogs daily. Already crate trained and housebroken (pending spay surgery at the end of June) and ready for meets and greets. Her adoption fee is $300. If interested in meeting Steffi, please review adoption requirements on our website first. www.dbgsdrescue.org

Story
Hi there… I’m Chase. I’m an 8-year-old Husky/German Shepherd Mix with a white and silver coat and some pretty stunning brown eyes (or so I’ve been told). I’ve got that classic Husky charm—handsome, a little stubborn, and full of personality—but I also have a big, loving heart that just wants to be close to my people. I’m a very affectionate guy. I love attention, cuddles, and being part of whatever you’re doing. Personal space? Never heard of it. If you’re sitting, I’m probably right there with you… or on you. I get along well with other dogs as long as everyone is respectful. I enjoy playing, though I’ll admit I sometimes forget how big I am. I’m also very food motivated (seriously… treats are the way to my heart), and I don’t have any food aggression—but if food is left unattended, I might just help myself. Fair warning! I do have a strong prey drive, especially when it comes to cats and small animals, so I’d do best in a home without them. Walks can get a little exciting for me too—I’m working on staying calm, and I do listen when guided, but I’ll need someone patient who can help me keep improving. At home, I’m mostly a calm, easygoing guy… until it’s time for a walk or food—then my excitement kicks in and I can’t help myself! Life is just too exciting sometimes. I’m neutered, up to date on all my vaccines, and microchipped—ready to go home with my forever family. I’d do best in a home without small children, just because I don’t always realize my size when I get excited. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with a playful spirit and a heart full of love, I might just be your guy. I promise to make you smile every single day.

Story
Hi, I’m Journey They say every dog has a story—and mine almost ended too soon. I was in a crowded shelter with very little time left, not because I did anything wrong, but simply because there wasn’t enough space. Then someone saw me—really saw me—and gave me the second chance I didn’t know I’d get. Now I’m safe, loved, and ready to find a forever home where I can truly belong. I’m about 3 years old, with striking blue eyes that people always stop to admire. I’m crate trained and housebroken, though if I’m moving into a new place, I might need a few extra breaks at first—new routines and spaces can take a little getting used to. I walk beautifully on a leash, and when I feel unsure or nervous, I’m great at listening and taking gentle redirection. When I meet other dogs on leash, I do really well. Inside the home, though, I can get a bit protective of my space, so I’d probably do best as your one and only, or maybe with a very calm and kind dog who helps me feel at ease. I just want to feel safe. My foster says I’m incredibly attentive and loving. I notice everything and love to stay close. I respond best to soft, gentle voices, and I really try hard to please. I’ve got a silly side too—they say I remind them of Scooby-Doo, and honestly, I kind of agree. When I want to connect, I’ll gently place my paw on your arm, like I’m saying, “I’m here, and I’ve got you.” It’s my little way of showing love. I’m okay with kids, especially if they’re quiet and kind. Sudden noises or loud voices can still scare me, and I’m working on being brave around things like passing cars. Sometimes I’ll jump up when I’m excited or nervous, so if that’s not your thing, I understand—just know I’m learning and trying my best every day. I’ve come so far already, and I’m proud of how hard I’m working. My foster is proud of me too. I just want a calm, patient home where I can keep growing and discovering how safe and beautiful life can be. And when I get a little scared? Well... sometimes I jump into your arms like Scooby-Doo. I’ve got a big heart that’s learning to be brave—one paw at a time.

Story
Hi there! I’m Kenai, a 1-and-a-half year old smarty-pants with a serious love for sticks. Seriously, hand me a stick and I’m the happiest dog alive. I’m house and crate trained, super smart, and I learn fast—so training me can actually be fun (just don’t expect me to always stay calm when the leash goes on… I get excited). I love other dogs, but I like a slow intro—small dogs aren’t really my thing. Kids? I adore them, but I might get a little bouncy around the tiny humans. Car rides? I can be a bit wild, but only because I’m excited to go on adventures… and I give the BEST cuddles once we get there. I’m a goofy, clever guy who loves affection, sticks, car rides, and learning new things. If you want a smart, silly, and totally lovable buddy to share adventures (and sticks) with, I’m your guy!
