Story

Our family dog, Leo, was adopted as a puppy from a breeder who works with a police academy. Leo's temperament as a puppy was shy and timid and was seen as unfit for police dog activities. His timid temperament made him a better fit for a calm, loving home. Leo is now a few years old and has grown into a sweet, gentle, and loyal companion. He is great with guest, kids, and is well-trained but does get excited very easily. He is potty trained, understands basic commands like sit, stay, paw, wipe paws, and not to get on furniture or enter rooms without permission. Unfortunately, due to my mom’s recent surgery, we’re no longer able to give him the care and attention he deserves. We’re looking for a new home where he’ll feel safe, loved, and supported. Leo would do best in a family where he gets a lot of attention. While he loves being outdoors, he still prefers the AC and being indoors or in the shade. Some words that describe him best are affectionate, mellow, energetic, and kind-hearted.

Story

Slater is an amazing dog and we’re heart broken to surrender him. To be clear, he is good with other dogs he knows and has been socialized in doggie daycare since a puppy. He has received professional training and is highly intelligent. Sadly, we realize the city is not conducive to his personality with so many people and dogs. We can’t relocate to accommodate his need for a yard, land and the ability to run outside freely. He is part Mallinois and needs to release his aggression in healthy ways. Access to obstacle course/tires, chasing things, or hunting would be great for Slater. He is such a rewarding dog with his Great Dane mix, which makes him highly affectionate and loving. He is also loyal & protective. He needs a caretaker that can handle his energy/anxiety but also allow him inside their home and to be affectionate. He will not do well living in a crate and needs to rome freely. He would do best in a kid/animal free environment until his anxiety is reduced.

Story

Misha was adopted from a shelter as a stray. She is very active breed and requires a similarly active owner. 2-3 walks a day would be minimum and a large backyard or area to run would be ideal. Loves long walks at forest preserves or trails. She loves to run fast and jump high. Has a strong fascination with birds. She is very adaptable to training and is treat/food motivated. Will require additional training to manage jumping and staying for extended periods of time. She is extremely intelligent and housebreaking training only took 3 days. With her intelligence comes some stubbornness, training will phase that out as she is still young. Strong preference for someone that is suburban or rural and has adequate outdoor property.
