Story
Bear is a 4-month-old old bundle of energy! He is a Malinois/Doodle mix but is the runt of the litter. He is filled with a playful side and a snuggly side. Bear loves to play with his fur sister and run and play outside. He finds socks from every corner of the house and growls like a baby black bear when he plays. Bear is working on potty training, learning by emulating his bigger foster sister. He does fairly well on a leash for a puppy and loves to be outside. Give this little snuggle bug a home! Bear will come with age-appropriate vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250. Apply to adopt Bear today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org.

Story
Bellatrix was rescued at 7weeks of age. Mom was a pit/boxer mix, dad was the neighbors Belgium Malinois. She was born 11/26/2022. She is sweet and loves other dogs. She is high energy and very athletic. She loves attention. She knows basic commands, but has a mind of her own at times. She is house trained and rings a bell to be let out. When she was younger she had her own large back yard with a privacy fence. The last year and a half she has been living in a town house with no real yard to run and due to a busy work schedule she spends her days in an indoor dog run. She does well with this and loves a routine, but with me needing to travel for work starting in May, she is now needing a better lifestyle. She has never shown any aggression and has been around children 8 years and older pretty routinely. Her favorite thing to do is destuff her stuffy toys and chew on a nice bone. She is not a fan of baths or nail trims but the vet/groomers are able to do both for her without issue.

Story
She’s an amazing dog I just don’t have the time for her my other dog and my 2month old son so I am trying to find her a loving home she needs exercise and would be best if she went somewhere with a fenced in back yard with other dogs to run around and play with she’s amazing with kids she does pull on the leash and has occasional accidents in the house the reason I have her priced at $10 is because I am not trying to make money off of her it is only to cover the cost of putting her up here

Story
Meet Gracie: Pet of the Week! Take a look at this sweet girl! Gracie is about 1-2 years old. She has so much love to give and is looking for a forever home, or a foster in the meantime. She's got it all! Good with kids, kennel trained, housebroken, and just amazing to all of the volunteers up here! She has a couple of quirks, which all pets do. She likes to flip her bowl so that she can eat her food on the floor. We're working on trying to get her to try new methods of eating breakfast and dinner, such as puzzle feeders, and various food dispensing toys, but she's not quite interested in those yet. NO CATS! She cannot be around cats, smaller animals, or chickens. Her prey drive kicks in pretty hard. But with her breeds, or what we think her breeds are, it can be expected. Her original paperwork has her listed as a Belgium Malinois/Coonhound mix. She has the facial structure of the Malinois and the energy, but the goofy personality of a coonhound and the coloring. We'd prefer to have someone with knowledge of the Malinois breed so that she doesn't end up coming back up here for her nature, but we are also willing to meet with those who are willing to agree to train her further and maintain that. She already knows some basic commands and uses them consistently. Oh, and she loves playing fetch with a ball. Former owner says if you throw it once, be prepared to continue throwing it for a good bit! We see more playful than spastic out of her, so we think she'd be a great fit for a family willing to put in the time with her! She is a bit intense and will need regular exercise and perhaps a “job” – she would excel no doubt at agility, etc. Call 913-684-4939. Visit at 510 Organ Ave. 11-4 MWF. Email fortleavenworthstrayfacility@gmail.com for an adoption application. Featured as the Pet of the Week in the Nov. 7, 2024, issue of the Fort Leavenworth Lamp.

Story
Chief is a 5 year old German Shepherd . He’s been great with my daughter since she was a baby. He’s a protector and a big baby all in one, but he knows when to play what role. He started out an in house dog, and then when I moved he became an outside dog with another dog that was currently outside. Once we settled into our new location he became an inside dog again. He loves long walks and is quite the fan favorite when he goes to the groomer or to any park. He’s eligible to be AKC registered. With moving around often I misplaced the original document I received from the breeder I got him from, but I can get that back. The breeder breeded to the local Sheriff’s department, so he has a really good blood line. He will be a great family dog or great company for someone needing some companionship. Chief feeds off of your energy. If you want to play, he’s down for it. If you want to chill and not be bothered, he can sense that and understands. He’s perfect for you.
