Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.THOR and his brother Loki were found abandoned alongside a rural highway.Temperament/Behavior:Thor is a sweet boy with typical puppy behaviors. He is still scared/cautious of loud noises, sudden unexpected movements, new people and new situations.People:He loves his people but takes a little longer with men, he loves pets and snuggles and toys. He is still learning boundaries and jumps on people when he gets excited. Families with young children would need monitoring as he is a high energy puppy.Training:He will still have accidents if he is not monitored, but if you watch for his signals he does not (we are working on using the bells on the door for notification, but since he is skittish it is a work in progress). He is kennel trained and typically does not have accidents in the kennel. He knows sit, kennel and sit to wait for food. He is a puppy so trying to eat everything outside but is easily redirectable. He is working on recall. He is learning to walk on a leash and making great progress.Pets:He is dog friendly but will need slower introductions for the other dog because he is a puppy and may jump or be too excited. He has not been cat tested.Medical:There are no current medical needsFun Facts:He is incredibly smart. He sleeps in a kennel at night and stays in one during the day with no issues. Thor has a lot of energy and will definitely need an adopter willing to both exercise him and mentallystimulate him through activities.     If you're looking for a gorgeous, young, trainable furballwho will love you forever,Thor may be your ideal family member! THOR'S ADOPTION FEE: $400This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.INTERESTED IN ADOPTING THOR? We're picky about our adopters.  Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They 'mouth' and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.   Will the dog be an inside family pet? Story
What comes to mind when you think about the Belgian Malinois? Words like intelligent, athletic, or agile? They have all those traits and more. Ozark is no different, but did you also know they are loving, devoted, eager to please, and can make great family pets? Ozark is a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois who weighs 58 pounds. This stunning lady has all the Malinois “things”. She is extremely intelligent, probably smarter than most of us. She knows numerous commands and is always anxious to learn more! Truly, the sky is the limit on what she can be taught. Ozark is housetrained, crate-trained, does wonderfully on leash, and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. She loves her doggo friends and is always up for some active playtime with them or her humans. Ozark would make a perfect active companion. Hiking is one of her favorite pastimes. Are you looking for a running partner? She can keep up with the best of them! Because of her athleticism, she can easily clear a fence, so a 6’ fence is a must for her. Leash walks would also be a great option. That’s a win-win, you get a bit of fresh air and exercise, and she gets to burn off some energy and enjoy the sights and sounds. This lovely lady will be a bit skittish at first, so she will need a family willing to give her the time she needs to feel safe. As a result, small children may not be a good fit for her. Once you are her people, she will be by your side through all the ups and downs of life. Ozark would do best in a home that allows her plenty of sensory and exercise opportunities. Did you know this breed is wonderful at several athletic canine sports, such as dock diving, agility, and even tracking? Ozark, true to her breed, has a high prey drive, so kitties are probably not a good fit for her. Ozark is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $175. For a chance to meet her, visit PawsitiveTailsKC.org to complete an application. Meet-and-greets will be scheduled with approved adopters. If you know you can give Ozark exactly what she needs, patience and activity, don’t wait, go fill out that application. Trust us, she will give you a kind of love you have never experienced before. 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤 APPLY @ PawsitiveTailsKC.org 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤

Story
Bronco — Loyal Gentle Giant Looking for the Right Home 🐾 Meet Bronco, a 6-year-old German Shepherd/Bullmastiff mix with a big heart and a loyal, devoted personality. This handsome boy absolutely loves people and enjoys being close to his humans. He’ll happily walk right by your side around the house and soak up all the attention he can get. Bronco is a smart, confident dog who enjoys walks, tasty treats (especially dehydrated sweet potatoes and pig ears!), and taking his time sniffing the world around him. He can pull a bit on leash and show a stubborn streak at times, but with consistent redirection he becomes an easy and enjoyable walking companion. He has previously lived with both dogs and cats, and he does well with cats. When meeting other dogs, Bronco may try to be the dominant personality. With proper introductions, structure, and the right canine companion, he has the potential to coexist successfully. Bronco is happiest in a calm, low-stress environment where he can bond closely with his people. He does well when left alone and respects the home environment. Because Bronco has shown some resource guarding with food and bones, his future family should be mindful of managing high-value items and providing structure around feeding and treats. His interactions with children are unknown, so a home with experienced handlers and thoughtful supervision around food or chews will help set him up for success. Bronco is: • 🐾 Extremely people-loving and affectionate • 🚶 Enjoys walks and exploring smells • 🐱 Good with cats • 🐕 May do well with the right dog companion and proper introductions • 🏡 Calm and respectful in the home • 🦴 A big fan of tasty treats like sweet potatoes and pig ears Bronco is a devoted companion who will thrive with an adopter who understands large, confident dogs and can provide structure, patience, and love. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Bronco may be the perfect match. 💙🐾 P.S. Bronco is also eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, making it easy to see if he’s the right fit for your family before committing to adoption. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Harley is a 6-year-old German Shepherd/Red Heeler mix who has the whole package: calm, loyal, smart, and deeply devoted to her people. She is house-trained, crate-trained, knows her commands, and settles beautifully in the home. She enjoys her daily walks, her toys, and above all, being close to her humans. A true Velcro dog, she loves nothing more than quietly sticking by your side. Harley can be a bit reserved with men and loves to protect her human. When she is feeling unsure or scared, she may bark or growl out of fear, but with slow, positive introductions, she warms up wonderfully. In her foster home, she absolutely adores her foster dad and teenage foster brother, showing just how loving and loyal she becomes once she feels safe. She gets along with other dogs and is in foster with dogs of various sizes and personalities. She may show herding instincts, so a home with older children and no cats would be best for her. Harley is available through our Foster-to-Adopt program, giving you the chance to get to know her and see just how special she is. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will stick by your side through everything, Harley just might be your perfect match. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Meet Marley — A Loyal 8-Year-Old German Shepherd Who Just Wants Stability Again Marley is an 8-year-old purebred German Shepherd who has known love her entire life. Her owner had her from puppyhood and surrendered her only because he was facing eviction after noise complaints in their apartment — he truly had no other choice. Marley is a sensitive, intelligent dog who thrives with structure, routine, and quiet. She will do best in a house (not an apartment) where she can decompress, settle, and feel secure. 💛 General Personality & Home Life Marley is affectionate, loyal, and very bonded to her people. She loves having a predictable rhythm to her day and aims to please. She is house trained, not protective of her things toward humans, and knows several commands. 🐶 Behavior With Other Dogs Marley does have specific needs around other dogs. We believe Marley would do best as the only dog living in the home. Leash Behavior • Leash reactive — she will bark, growl, or lunge if dogs get too close. Marley is not aggressive. She is fearful and demonstrates her big emotions through these behaviors. • Will need patient, structured leash work with positive reinforcement and space on walks Dog-to-Dog Interactions • Previously went to dog parks but began resource guarding toys • Has done well with dogs her size in controlled settings without resources, however we are recommending as an only dog due to guarding history, until we can better understand Marley’s needs. 🐱 Cats Marley previously lived with a cat successfully. We always recommend slow and thoughtful introductions to feline friends. 🐕‍🦺 Kennel Stress Being in a kennel and away from her humans is hard on Marley. Marley would thrive with an adopter who is home most of the time or who can provide a very secure kennel set up. 🌟 What Marley Needs in an Adopter Marley will thrive with: • A house with a yard (no apartments) • An experienced German Shepherd or working-breed home • A dog-free household (may do okay with monitored playtime after slow patient introductions with familiar friends, her size or larger. But we believe she would do best to not live with another dog) • Continued training for leash reactivity • A stable, predictable environment • Someone who appreciates the loyalty and sensitivity of shepherds 💛 Marley Is Ready for a Soft Landing After eight years of routine, love, and stability, Marley is overwhelmed in the shelter and desperate for a quiet home to feel safe again. If you understand shepherds and want a devoted, intelligent companion, Marley might be the dog who gives you her whole heart. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt.
