QUICK FACTS Name: Avan Age: 1 Year Gender: Male (Neutered) Breed: Malinois–Jindo Mix Color: Tan with black muzzle Weight: 12kg / 26.4lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY I was rescued from the euthanasia list at the Miryang City Shelter in Korea. Although the shelter environment was unfamiliar and overwhelming at first, I showed gentle curiosity toward people even on my first day after rescue. With time, stability, and kindness, I’m continuing to adjust and learn what it means to feel safe.   MY PERSONALITY My name is Avan. I’m a quiet, thoughtful boy with a calm presence. I may seem a little shy at first, and while I’ll accept treats right away, I prefer to be touched once I’ve had time to feel comfortable. I’m not overly clingy or expressive, but I enjoy being around people in a steady, reassuring way. You could describe me as an “aloof but kind son” — I may not constantly ask for attention, but I like knowing my people are nearby and I form gentle, trusting bonds over time.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS • With People: I can be cautious around unfamiliar people and may bark when meeting someone new. With time and treats, I warm up and allow handling. I can be picked up comfortably. I have not yet met children under 13. • With Dogs: I’m friendly and social with other dogs and will approach both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to say hello. I tend to feel comfortable around dogs similar to or larger than my size. If another dog provokes me, I may respond, so slow and supervised introductions with new dogs are important. • With Cats: I have not yet been tested with cats. (A cat test can be conducted upon request to ensure the best fit.)   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy outdoor activities and walks, and once I’ve had enough exercise, I settle down calmly indoors. I generally follow my handler well on leash, though I may pull at times. Since my walking experience is still limited, I may freeze or lie down when I encounter something unfamiliar or scary. With patient guidance, my confidence continues to grow.   TRAINING & HABITS I do not guard food from people or other dogs. I may bark when I want something or when meeting unfamiliar people. I’m calm and well-behaved in a kennel and adapt well to routines. With consistency and positive reinforcement, I continue to make steady progress in a home environment.   MY IDEAL HOME I would do best in a calm, understanding home that allows me to settle in at my own pace. I would thrive with: • A patient family who respects my quieter personality • Gentle guidance and consistent routines • Supervised introductions with new dogs • A stable environment where trust can build naturally   SPECIAL NOTES Avan is not a dog who demands attention, but he quietly enjoys companionship and forms meaningful bonds over time. He has a reserved, “quiet son” kind of charm — steady, observant, and gentle with his people. For a family who appreciates a calm, thoughtful companion rather than an overly expressive one, Avan will be a deeply rewarding presence and a loyal part of the household.   Apply to foster or adopt: https://www.welcomedogkorea.org For Inquiries: info@welcomedogkorea.com ##2633200##

Story
Fossa is a sweet, senior gentleman whose life took an unexpected turn when his owner lost their home. Now, he's on the lookout for a loving family who can offer the stability and comfort he truly deserves. At first, Fossa can be a little anxious with new changes, but once he's settled into a routine, he becomes the most loyal and affectionate companion you could ask for. He's currently taking daily medication for anxiety, but we're optimistic that with a steady, calm environment, he can eventually be weaned off the medication. One of Fossa's most endearing qualities is his love for stuffed animals. He often carries them on walks, gently holding them in his mouth like treasured friends. His charming personality makes him an ideal match for families with children, as he's sure to bring joy and warmth into any home. Fossa would thrive in a household with a family who is committed to continuing his training and helping him build confidence. He's looking for a patient family who understands the unique needs of a senior dog. Though he's working on leash manners and managing some dog reactivity, Fossa is eager to learn and show just how wonderful he can be. Though Fossa has developed some arthritis, he's on both oral medication and supplements to help him stay comfortable and keep moving smoothly. You'd never guess he's a senior dog – he still has plenty of pep in his step! Fossa is not just looking for a place to stay – he wants a home where he can be loved, a soft bed to call his own, and a chance to spend his golden years surrounded by care and affection. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion to complete your family, Fossa just might be the perfect match.

Story
Jack has won the hearts of our staff with his loving, warm personality. He greets us with affectionate hugs every time we enter his room, making him an absolute favorite! Jack is a laid-back guy who enjoys attention but also appreciates having his personal space when needed. He proudly shows off his new tricks and loves to strut his stuff on walks. Jack would make an excellent sidekick for car rides and adventures, always ready for a new experience by your side. Jack requires a calm, adult-only home with no other dogs or cats, as he can be reactive and aggressive towards other animals. While he is loving, he may become uncomfortable if someone invades his space when he is feeling uneasy, and this could lead to a defensive reaction. For this reason, Jack will thrive in an environment where he can have the space and time he needs to relax and feel secure. Jack is highly food motivated and has been clicker-trained, making walks a smooth and enjoyable experience. Jack has been diagnosed with a slowly progressive mobility issue as well as arthritis, he takes daily medication to manage both conditions and attends weekly rehabilitation sessions to help build strength and maintain mobility. To keep him comfortable and prevent muscle soreness, Jack should ideally live in a single-level home, where he doesn’t need to navigate stairs.

Story
Diesel was surrendered by his previous owners due to the ongoing medical care he requires. He lives with Idiopathic Epilepsy, which necessitates daily medication to manage his seizures. Additionally, Diesel has been diagnosed with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI), a condition that affects his ability to properly digest food. To keep him healthy, he needs a daily supplement and a special gastrointestinal diet to maintain his weight and prevent digestive issues. Despite his medical needs, Diesel has been flourishing in his foster home for the past few months. His foster family reports that he has impeccable house manners and has made great strides in overcoming his separation anxiety—he now rarely whines when they leave the house. Diesel has a zest for life and loves running around outside and playing fetch. After an active day, he enjoys cuddling up and lying beside you for hours. He has integrated well with the family’s dog and cat, showing no signs of food or bed guarding. Occasionally, Diesel can be reactive to other dogs during walks, but this typically happens only if the other dog engages first. He may take some time to warm up to men and can find car rides a bit stressful, though he is improving with each journey. Diesel's affectionate nature and spirited personality make him a wonderful companion for someone ready to provide him with the care and love he deserves.
