Story
Currently in Vancouver!!! Meet Huchu – Searching for His Forever Home Age: 4 years Weight: 28kg Sex: Neutered male Color: Black & white Huchu’s story is heartbreaking—he was once on the euthanasia list at a city shelter in 2022, his life nearly taken before it truly began. Thankfully, he was rescued, and since then he’s been waiting quietly, hoping someone would finally see him and give him the love he deserves. Despite what he’s been through, Huchu’s gentle soul shines through. He’s polite with people and dogs, calm on walks, fully house-trained, and shows no signs of separation anxiety. At home, he’s quiet and non-destructive, happy just to be near you. He even allows his paws to be touched and stays calm during cleaning—always patient, always trusting. He’s also an excellent traveler, hopping into the car with ease and riding peacefully by your side. He adapts beautifully to home life—content, low-maintenance, and so easy to love. Gentle with a cat! Huchu has already lost so much, but he hasn’t lost hope. What he needs now is a family who will give him the security he’s been waiting for, someone who will promise him forever. Please open your heart and consider adopting Huchu. He has been waiting far too long, and he deserves to finally come home. Send in your application through our website! Story
Hello, my name is Lexus!I am very excited to move into my new home and keep the ball rolling with my socialization. I am a very confident and loving girl and could do well in a busier household than my sister Porsche. It is important that I join a family that has the time and patience to dedicate to my socialization and training, and who can handle my energy and excitement. I am not aggressive but still mouthy and bouncy which means I am a bit too much for small children at this point of my life. To become a well-rounded, socialized adult, it`s important I have frequent and positive interactions with new people, other dogs, visits to the vet clinic and other unfamiliar environments (like friends` homes and pet stores).I am very affectionate, playful and just a bundle of pure love! MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES...CHILDREN: I could be good with older children that can help with my training but I am a bit much for small kids.OTHER DOGS: I could be good with other dogs once I have been taught proper socialization.CATS: Potentially, with a cat confident around dogs and training.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: I would do best with someone who has previous dog experience. Researching Belgian Malinois dogs would be a good idea.FENCED-IN YARD: Highly recommended.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any with a yard preferred.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: It would be best if someone could be home part of the day or a lunch break.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME...ACTIVITY LEVEL: HighHOUSE-TRAINED: Yes but do expect some accidents.BIRTHDAY: May 21, 2025**I am a foster to adopt until I am spayed.**If you think I would be a good fit for you, please visit www.uppercredit.com or call us at 519-833-2287

Story
Danny, a 16 month old gentle giant with a loving heart, awaits a forever home that understands his delicate nature. In his past, trauma has left scars, but with the right environment, he can blossom into the affectionate companion he longs to be. A quiet home with a single female owner working from home, would provide Danny with the stability and comfort he needs. His present foster environment has an adult male and female. Danny is always connected to the female but bounces back and forth with the male. One day he is terrified and runs to his crate whenever the male arrives, and the next day he is licking his face and wanting scratches and loving. He is unsure of smaller humans and would be best suited in a home without children under 10-12 years old. Danny's emotional intelligence is extraordinary. He is incredibly perceptive of human emotions and can sense when someone is feeling down or anxious. This empathy makes him an exceptional companion, offering comfort and support through his gentle presence.Danny is well-trained and knows various commands and tricks having completed beginner and intermediate training. He walks well on a leash, listening attentively to his human's instructions. However, his recall is still a work in progress, though he is a quick learner and eager to please.Despite his impressive size, Danny is surprisingly playful and energetic. He loves to run and can spend hours chasing after a ball or engaging in friendly games with his foster brother. However, he is still unsure about his dog beds, having gone through several before finding a few that he feels comfortable with.Danny's love for toys is undeniable, but his black Kong is his absolute favorite. It's the only toy that can withstand his chewing prowess. While he can be cautious and nervous around men, Danny is gradually socializing well with his neighbors and friends. He is believed to be a mix of Shepherd and either Boxer or Belgian Malinois (based on his colouring), a combination that results in a large and loving dog.Danny's safe spot is his crate, and he needs unrestricted access to it at all times. He enjoys car rides, couches and beds but we are unsure if he was ever allowed on them in the past. His passive and chill demeanor makes him a delightful companion, but patience is essential as he gets to know his new surroundings and people. In the past, Danny struggled with anxiety peeing and separation anxiety. He was successful in breaking out of standard wire crates (through brute force). Once he got an escape proof crate, he seemed to have given up on his escape attempts and is quite content hanging out in his safe space While he has made significant progress, there may be days when he reverts to these behaviors. It's important to remember that he would thrive best in a larger area with a fenced-in yard and daily walks to provide him with the mental and physical stimulation he needs.Danny is neutered, up-to-date with all his shots, and on a particular supplement that his new family should continue with, as recommended by his veterinarian. He is a big love bug who enjoys fetching shoes and playing with his foster brother, though he is still learning to be mindful of his size around smaller dogs.Danny is a unique old soul who deserves a loving and patient family who will cherish him for the gentle giant he is. With the right environment and care, he will blossom into a loyal and devoted companion, filling their lives with endless love and joy.HIstory: Danny was part of the Dover Dozen, a group of 12 puppies dumped at the side of a road near Port Dover. He unfortunately spent the first 11 months of his life in a shelter. He has been fostered since March of 2024, with his foster brother Dexter (who is also available for adoption). The two of them together provide endless hours of laughter and entertainment and a dual adoption would certainly be an option. Story
"ZORBA" is a German shepherd mix, about 3,5 years old and weighs aprox. 30 kg. or 66 lbs. A while ago, one of our team members needed to pull off the road to take a call from Anastasia. As luck would have it, while parked, she noticed this tiny ball of fur, curled up and shivering close to the car. He was only 65 days old, a tiny, wet and scared pup who could barely walk. After making sure that there were no siblings around, she took him to our vet and then to our sanctuary. We have been looking after him since that day. Now, he’s been fully vetted and vaccinated, micro-chipped, and neutered. We have also worked daily to fully leash train and housebreak him. "ZORBA" is a bit hesitant when meeting new people but he loosens up quickly. Once he’s gained your trust, he turns into this incredibly kind, sweet, very kissy, adorable bear. SPFG volunteers call him "BACLAVA" because he has so much sugar! He is the kind of dog that will restore your good spirits on a miserable day. He is also playful with other animals and all of his doggie friends, from the tiniest to the largest. All the pups at our sanctuary adore handsome “ZORBA”. He would make an excellent companion for any family. If interested in adopting our affectionate "ZORBA", please visit our website to fill out an application at: www.straypawsfromgreece.com
