Mamba's story is one of survival, resilience, and second chances. Her journey began at a local horse stable in Mexico, where she was struggling to survive on her own. Severely malnourished, weak, and desperately searching for food each day, Mamba had already endured more hardship than any dog should have to face. Thankfully, someone saw her and stepped in to give her the chance she so desperately needed. With proper food, medical care, and lots of love, Mamba slowly began to regain her strength. Her body healed, and her joyful personality started to shine through. Then, just when life seemed to be getting brighter, Mamba suffered another heartbreaking setback. While playing with other dogs, an unfortunate accident caused a severe injury to one of her eyes. Despite every effort to save it, her eye could not be preserved and ultimately had to be surgically removed. But Mamba? She didn't let that stop her. Today, she proudly wears her adorable "pirate girl" look and takes on the world with the same enthusiasm as ever. Losing an eye hasn't changed her ability to run, play, explore, or enjoy life. Meet Sway!! (case #22128) Smart, spirited, and full of potential, Sway is a roughly 4-month-old puppy who is already showing off some pretty impressive skills! She’s the kind of girl who will keep you on your toes, make you laugh, and challenge you to become the best dog owner you can be. And that last part is important, because Sway is a puppy with a lot of brains, a lot of energy, and a lot to learn! This clever girl is very food motivated, which is fantastic news for anyone ready to put in the work. She already knows how to sit and wait patiently for her meals, walks nicely on leash, and has shown that she can handle outings into the world without being easily spooked. She even settled down for a nap while her handler chatted during a store visit! Crate time? No problem. Sway settled beautifully in her crate, and with a little guidance, she quickly learned where to go outside to do her business. She didn't have a single indoor accident during her stay! Sway also did well around the resident adult working dogs, playing nicely alongside them and enjoying a game of fetch. She's not particularly interested in having another puppy climb all over her face, though, and she's quite vocal when she spots cats. Like any young pup, she's still learning her manners and how to navigate the world around her. And let's talk about that puppy energy! Before a walk, Sway can get pretty mouthy and playful, but redirecting her onto an appropriate toy or chew helps her find a better outlet. After some exercise and engagement, she's shown a lovely ability to settle and relax independently. While she may have some Belgian Malinois in her background, she's presenting more as a companion pet at this stage, rather than a puppy who needs a working-dog lifestyle. Regardless of her genetics, she'll need an appropriate balance of physical exercise, mental enrichment, structure, and downtime as she grows. You don't need us to explain McCoy if you've loved a German Shepherd before. You already know. You know about the shadow. The dog who watches everything. The dog who learns your routines, your moods, and somehow always seems to know when you need him most. That's McCoy. McCoy first came to Team Dog Rescue from Mexico when he was 3 years old. Not long after arriving in Canada, he found a family of his own. Now, at 10 years old, due to medical circumstances beyond anyone's control, McCoy has been returned to Team Dog Rescue and finds himself starting over. The truth is, he's a little confused right now. After 6 years of knowing exactly where he belonged, that's understandable.But beneath the uncertainty is the same dog who loves his walks, lights up around water, and wants nothing more than to be close to his people. And if you need a glimpse into who he is, there's a story from his time in Mexico that perfectly captures his character. McCoy spotted a woman struggling in the ocean after being stung by a jellyfish and barked relentlessly until people noticed. When help didn't come fast enough, he tried to go himself. That's McCoy. Loyal to his core. He's healthy, up to date on his vetting, and still has plenty of good years ahead of him. He has a high prey drive, so no cats or small animals, and he's selective about his dog friends. He'll also benefit from someone willing to continue working on his leash skills, and German Shepherd experience is a bonus.
