Story
Goose was dumped in the middle of nowhere in TX with a broken leg and in obvious pain.  He was found sitting in the sun and was extremely thirsty.  SSR heard the plea for help and rescued Goose.  Goose was taken to the vet for medical care.  They are not sure his leg can be saved since the injury is so old.  This may mean amputation.  He is a handsome pup and super friendly.  Once Goose's medical concerns have been addressed and he is on the road to recovery he will make his way to VA.  If you are interested in fostering or adopting Goose, please submit your application to SSR!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know. Schon means beautiful in German and uniquely beautiful she sure is! SSR saved her from Oklahoma as a neglected stray. She is still gaining much needed weight. She is the typical high energy Mal that will need training and will fit best with an active lifestyle adopter that can give her purpose and keep her busy. This girl loves attention and is a 5 star space invader. Schon is so sweet and smart! She gets along with other dogs, but tries to be dominate. No cats! This beautiful girl is spayed, heartworm negative, up to date on shots, and is on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. Schon is ready to find her forever family! She resides in MO.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gorgeous, playful with typical Mal behavior Why is such a handsome and loving boy still available? Radar is a love-bug that wants adult humans of his own. He had a rough puppyhood (stray, shelter, bad adoption experience) and needs an experienced adopter (a Belgian Malinois is like a GSD on steroids). As a working breed and due to his high energy he won't be adopted to a home with young children. He loves to give kisses and get belly rubs, snuggle up on the couch, play fetch and go for walks and runs and needs a lot of exercise and engagement. He gets along and plays with his GSD foster siblings but constantly tries to hog his human's attention.  Radar 4283 is still looking for his forever home. Do you want a dog that will run (or walk) with you, loves to play and snuggle, is a great protector? Radar wants to know someone before allowing pets, but has warmed up to many people Radar is a sweet boy and loves his people and their friends, but wears a muzzle in public places as people like to come and pet him without asking as he is such a handsome boy. He loves to play and chase/wrestle his foster siblings and is eager to please. He needs reminders to heel on walks, and an attentive walker to keep him calm when other dogs are passing by, but has made huge progress with training - he is eager to please and food motivated. Please contact his foster for more information or to meet him triebi@hotmail.com. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 5, 2024, 1:27 pm

Story
Ava came to us a 9 week old puppy suffering from Megaesophagus secondary to PRAA. This is a condition in which the esophagus will not move the food down her throat as it should. Ava has surgery to correct her PRAA and it did lessen the severity of her Mega Esophagus but didnt totally correct it. Ava must eat her food after its been soaked and blended in a blender and she needs to eat out of an elevated feeder. She drinks water normally. Ava does have allergies that are controlled with a daily medication.. Ava loves other dogs and cats and children however she's incredibly bossy and rather possessive over things and will growl and snarl at other animals that come near her toy or bone she's chewing. Most of the animals in her foster home ignore her and walk away.. She is potty trained and crate trained. She needs a family that will be diligent on ensuring that no small objects are left where she can get them because they can pose choking hazards for her with her mega E. Please take a few minutes to read up on Megaesophagus to see what it is and what care is required for a dog with the condiotion if you feel you are interested in Ava.

Story
This is Stevie Nicks, a German Shepherd/Lab mix of about 1 ½ years. Stevie is a real cuddler who doesn’t realize she’s not a lap dog! (She weighs 45 pounds!) She’s also energetic and happy.  She can become anxious if left alone, though, so it’s best to crate her then.  This really helps her, and she considers the crate her safe place.  Stevie loves “indestructible” stuffies; they last the longest for her. She loves to play fetch with her balls and knows how to sit and give her paw. Stevie walks great on a leash and we have started bike leash training, but that is still very new for her. Stevie is great with children. Stevie is comfortable around other dogs and loves to play once she is appropriately introduced. She has mostly only interacted with other large dogs her size. Stevie currently lives with a cat. She’s not a huge fan but is more frightened of the cat than anything.  (HS    R 2/11/24))  **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption Fee/Transport Fee: $250.00May 5, 2024, 12:40 pm

Story
A pregnant Sunflower was hours away from euthanasia when we found her in and pulled her out of a kill shelter. She is a beautiful German Shepherd mix who is about 2 years of age and weighs 30 pounds. Now that her puppies have been weaned, Sunflower is ready to find her forever home. She is a clever and good-natured girl who gets along well with other dogs, her foster’s cat, and people of all ages including children. Sunflower is ready to share her love with you! (TN, 2/16/24)     **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $395 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  May 5, 2024, 12:40 pm
