Story
Gunner is our featured #MedicalMonday pup, and he’s got quite the story. A transformation that’s nothing short of incredible. When Gunner first came to us, as a local stray with his buddy Koa, he was heartbreakingly thin—his body showing just how much he had been through. On top of that, he was diagnosed with Lyme disease, a condition caused by tick bites that can leave dogs feeling sore, tired, and just not themselves. With proper care, good nutrition, and treatment (antibiotics like Doxycycline), he’s already on the road to feeling better. Now his personality is shining…spunky, playful, and always ready for his next adventure (especially if toys are involved)! What Gunner needs now is someone willing to continue that journey with him—offering patience, love, and a forever home where he can truly thrive.Despite it all, Gunner never lost his spark. Help us give Gunner the happy ending he deserves. Apply to adopt him today! Adoption Information ~•Experienced breed owner•5 years old•Neutered •Microchipped •Currently for yearly vaccinations •Heartworm negative What is Lyme Disease in Dogs? Lyme disease is something every dog owner should be aware of. It’s spread through tick bites and can affect even the most active active dogs. Signs to watch for:• Limping or stiffness• Low energy• Fever• Loss of appetiteSome dogs may not show symptoms right away, which is why prevention is so important! The good news its treatable. Most commonly with antibiotics like Doxycycline—especially when caught early.Protect your pup-• Use monthly tick prevention• Check your dog after outdoor time• Talk to your vet about the Lyme vaccineWith warmer weather comes more outdoor adventures… and unfortunately, more ticks.
