Story
Hello from Miss Zelda!Zelda is an absolute love and does great with the other similarly sized dogs in her foster home. It is clear she has had at least one litter of puppies, but she is now spayed and ready to find her perfect home. She is also fantastic with the two children in the home aged 6 and 13, although her foster has definitely been working on her manners with her in terms of eating food that doesn’t belong to her. Zelda loves the other dogs but is very much driven by human attention and affection. She is extremely food motivated but does not seem to have any toy drive. This beautiful girl would do best in a home with children over age 5 and no small animals including small dogs or cats. She has a definite prey drive.  A home where she will receive lots of love and attention, along with continued training and socialization, is a must for this girl. Zelda is fully house broken and crate trained. If you think your home may be a good match for Zelda, please don’t hesitate to fill out an application at calpaws.org. She can’t wait to meet you! Adoption fees: Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm and microchip each dog as well as spay or neuter. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Being a foster is such a rewarding experience. If you are interested please review https://www.calpaws.org/fostering   ##1866612##

Allen, neutered male, 1.5-y-o, 36-lbs If you would like to give ALLEN a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application With a pair of big eyes, on a seemingly oversized head — compared to his small and bony body, little Allen wandered alone around the orchard. He tried to keep out of sight from people, even when the volunteers were doling out food for him. Apparently, he was deeply haunted by multiple attacks in his short three months’ life. After Allen was rescued, his physical revealed that he was severely anemic. Under the loving tender care of his foster family, Allen slowly gained his trust toward people around him and started to play with other dogs in the household. Still, he’s not too comfortable being held by people, but great improvement has shown as time goes by. Allen is now a lively, playful and happy pup when around familiar environment. He is super mellow and well behaved by nature, only a little shy around strangers, especially toward men. He gets along well with other dogs and cats. He’ll be a great addition to family with dog! Story
Very affectionate pup, up to date on shots. Very healthy. She is one of 3 puppies that were born on January 17 2024, will be a large - xlarge once full grown. Can do better with some more training. Requires a big space to run most likely a yard to her self tho will do fine with other dogs. I am looking for someone to make the time to properly continue training her & provide the right amount of exercise as she does need a lot of space to run . She is currently used to having a play mate as I have other puppies myself and do well with each other.

These pups are in Vallejo, California too!

Story
Meet Chance! He is about 5.5 year-old German Shepherd mix who came to the shelter as a stray in an extremely emaciated condition. But he's quite healthy now, weighing in at 95 pounds. Chance is also a very smart dog! He walks well on a leash and knows basic commands (sit, down, shake) and he waits upon command at a street or driveway for crossing. He enjoys playing fetch and even catches the ball in mid-air! With proper, supervised introductions, Chance would do fine in a home with a female dog friend around his age. Chance loves playing in yard with his best dog friend Ari (HSNB Alum). He acts like a puppy with her; staff and volunteers think its adorable. This sweet, funny, amazing guy has been at our shelter for over a year with very little interest and those of us who know Chance can't understand why. If you think you might want to give Chance a safe warm forever home, please visit our website at www.hsnb.org to fill out an adoption interest application. Chance's adoption fee will be discounted thanks to a generous sponsorship grant from the 15/10 Foundation! His fee helps us cover his neuter, microchip, and shots, including rabies. He's eagerly awaiting a best friend, could that be you? Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Black Weight: 95.25 Age: 5yrs 11mths 0wks

Story
Hi, I'm Freddy! I'm a super sweet and gentle Shepherd mix pup. When I first arrived at the shelter I was pretty scared of everything in the new world around me. Thanks to the patience of our awesome staff and volunteers, I'm really coming out of my shell! I've made a few other doggie pals here at the shelter too and love playing with them in the play yard. I would thrive in a loving home with a patient understanding and person/family. With the right touch I can blossom into the confident boy I was meant to be! Freddy's foster had this to say, "Freddy really blossomed outside of the shelter environment! While always on the shy side around people at the shelter, at home he just wanted to be near us and loved getting some extra rubs. He was happy to lounge around and snooze, but also found time to be curious and try out some new toys. He's also a quiet soul - he was calm and curious when someone came to the door, not a peep! And only made a few barks when he was letting us know he was ready to play. At night he was a perfectly behaved snuggle bud, sleeping in bed until it was time to get up in the morning. Freddy really thrived and was such a loving boy outside of the extra noise and action in the shelter environment."My adoption fee covers the cost of my neuter, microchip, and all my vaccinations, including rabies. Please come and meet me by completing an adoption interest form at HSNB.org. Hope to meet you real soon! Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Black Weight: 61 Age: 2yrs 10mths 1wks

Story
Hello there, I'm Lady. I'm one of several beautiful German Shepherds here at HSNB, weighing in at about 65 lbs.I have been in foster for 4 months and I love my humans, and my foster doggy sister. We walk together, play together and sleep together without issue (sometimes we both take over the bed and humans wake up stiff from sleeping funny - oops). We recently added another foster dog to the house, and I play great with him too! Cats - not so keen as my instinct is to chase.I am a shy girl and strangers can be scary but if you come in slowly and give me a couple minutes I will soon be snuggling up for pets (I am also super soft). I am potty trained, dog door trained, a lap stealer and a bit of a toy hog. I warn the humans of stranger danger so you will never be surprised by someone coming to the house. I would thrive best with someone that helps me to feel safe and is patient with me and maybe has a dog already that I can play with. I have a lot of love to give. Please come and meet me!My $150 adoption fee means I will come to your home spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all my vaccines. Please visit HSNB.org to complete an adoption interest application found in our bio. Hope to see you soon! Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 64.375 Age: 2yrs 3mths 3wks
