Story
Pony Girl (so named for the Stay Golden Ponyboy line from The Outsiders) has had a very tough life so far. We thought things were improving. She's gained so much of her coat back, her infection was gone, she was playing and happy. She went to an amazing foster family and was doing great. Then the news all changed. She was diagnosed with cancer. Not a treatable cancer. She's on medication to make whatever time she has left happy and her foster family is dedicated to ensuring her last weeks/months will be full of happiness. If you want to meet or visit with her to show her some love please reach out to us. She loves car rides and does love people. She can be a little wary/shy at first, but does warm up to new people. She's been through so much in her life :( At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters. We take in special cases some of which will stay with us as a sanctuary dog.If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect Dog this means they have special needs and special requirements for potential adopters.If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect RESIDENT this animal is NOT available for adoption and is one of our sanctuary residents. Story
Updated Bio as of June 2023: Jupiter was originally found as a lost pup with her 2 brothers in a corn field during winter. She nearly froze to death, she was so cold she couldn't run/move quickly and people were able to catch her. They were all very thin and had to fight to survive with the coyotes out there. Jupiter is learning to trust humans and will be a happy dog around me but still skittish over touch. With new people she will take time to warm up for sure. Jupiter's adoption fee is sponsored. She is ok with other dogs but initially acts like she's aggressive. It's the survival mode in her. Once she knows they aren't going to hurt her she warms up. She will need to be fed separately from other animals. At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters. Story
Louie is a boisterous, high-energy boy that has a lot of love to share. He has some training/discipline but would benefit from a highly consistent and loving owner. Louie loves walks on leash or harness. He will do great with potty behaviors with a regular feeding and walking schedule. Louie acclimates well with other dogs, and while he is generally suspicious with cats, he displays no aggressive behavior, just a lot of curiosity. He has done very well around kids and teens. He obeys basic crate commands as well but does not enjoy being confined to a crate for more than 30 minutes to an hour. We are sad to see him go but for several reasons we're unable to commit to the schedule and activities Louie needs and deserves. We think he would be an incredible companion for people with jogging/athletic routines who have a lot of love to give.
