Story
NAME: Bernstein Bear SEX : male Color/Pattern: Tan black brown saddle agouti Breed: German and Belgian shepherd husky mix Weight: ~70lbs? Age at intake: 3yrs BDAY actual: Jan 16, 2022 Intake date : Jan 8, 2025 Found date: owner surrender Coat length: med Description Bernstein Bear is a submissive, sweet and easy going, tall, lanky German Shepherd mix. Personality Bernstein is handsome, slender and graceful. He can be shy and timid at first but he is just being cautious in new situations. He loves being outside and doesn't mind the cold, but also relishes some comfy bedding in his crate. Once he warms up, he becomes everyone's friend and shows how trusting his true personality is when he feels safe and secure. He is so good, well behaved, gentle, nice, and obedient. He likes to give hugs but knows not to jump up on you. He is tall so if he stands on his back legs you dont have to bend over much! Bernstein is great with other dogs and integrates smoothly into a household with other pets. Background Bear was scheduled to be dropped off at Houston's BARC kill shelter on Thursday, Jan 9 by his owner. His owner desperately did not want to take him there, so they reached out to GNAR for help. She had to move in with her brother that week, but he wouldn't allow her to bring Bear with her because he claimed he can’t be around dogs due to severe allergies. GNAR found a spot for him in a group foster home just in time. Bear made a huge splash on social media rallying to save him amongst social media German Shepherd rescue groups. Compatibility Dogs - yes Cats - probably Kids - yes to inquire contact my foster home at 682 207 7467

Story
Reina is a chill, loving, and smart dog. She learns tricks quickly, loves receiving pets, and takes lots of naps. She’s loves car rides and adventures. She’s just loves being with you. She’ll go on runs with you, watch movies with you, etc. She’s needs an experienced / ready owner. She’s a rescue, and I don’t know much about her past. She’ll warm up to people, and when she does she’s bonded with them for life, but she’s timid when meeting people, and is particularly scared of men. This fear has led to a few bites. All defensive and non aggressive - she runs away right after it happens. Most of these have been “Level 2” and haven’t broken the skin. The one the did just left a little dot. It’s an escalated warning bite. She’s territorial of food and toys around other dogs, and likes her space. If she has the space (dog park), she’ll remove herself if uncomfortable. If she doesn’t have the space to get away, she has barked and snapped at other dogs.

Story
I saw Zoe and her siblings on a FB post as needing help. I had an empty room and wanted to help sweet innocent puppies. The initial puppies finder brought them to me on the Friday before the Memorial weekend, 2025. Quickly the health of two of them declined and pass away one on the Sunday evening and the second on the Monday morning. Zoe beat the odds and survived whatever virus her siblings had found while living their short puppy life on the streets of Houston. Zoe now is 6 months old, eager to learn, playful bundle of pure joy. She is doing great with all the rest of the house pets, dogs and cats total of 11. The adoption fee covers the medical, food and other expenses for Zoe and other rescued dogs in my care.

Story
Hi, I'm Farrah! Age: Approx. 7 years Gender: Spayed Female Weight: 59 lbs Breed: German Shepherd Mix Favorites: Exploring outside Energy level: Moderate Training: Knows commands “sit” and “shake,” appears potty trained Other important info about me: I came to the shelter when someone abandoned me in the parking lot with my two puppies. My pups have moved on to find their forever families, but it’s time for me to find mine! I am very well-mannered and super smart. I’m a bit on the older side, which may cause a lot of people to look past me for younger dogs and puppies, but there’s lots of advantages to adopting an older and wiser dog! I’ve got some training already, and you don’t have to worry about any puppy shenanigans with me. I just want a nice place to call home, with people who will include me as part of the family. I appear to be friendly with other dogs and people of all ages, but I haven’t been tested with cats at this time. If you are interested in adopting me, please submit an adoption inquiry through this listing, email mbas@montbelvieu.net, or call us at 281-214-9045!
