Story
Meet Aladen. He was born on 1/21/2024 and is a Bernese mountain dog/poodle/labrador retriever mix. He will be a large dog when he is fully grown 65-70 lbs. Aladen has not met a person or a dog that he does not like. He has been introduced to chickens and cats and has been fine with both. He is a growing puppy that likes to put everything in his mouth, so must be supervised to make sure that he’s not chewing things he’s not supposed to. He is working on his house breaking, but does have accidents. He is sleeping through the night in his crate.  Aladen loves toys and will play a little bit of puppy fetch and he likes to tug. He is learning to take treats, and will be learning some very basic commands in the next few few weeks.  He would do best in a home with another playful dog and a fenced yard as he will need regular daily exercise. Aladen does get upset when he is left completely alone. He will need a home where people are not gone long hours of the day. Puppies need to get out every few hours and cannot wait all day for someone to come home. Very small children or a home with lots of things a puppy should not eat around will not be a good fit for Aladen. He could get himself in trouble eating something he should not very quickly. Aladen is a character, he is playful and engaged and loves attention from people. He is going to grow up to be a very nice young dog. He is now neutered,  up to date with vaccines for his age and microchipped. His adoption fee is $450.00. If you are interested in adopting Aladen, please visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application. Story
Abner is a playful but low key puppy.  He likes to run around and play but is also happy to lay on a dog bed and chew a toy by himself.  He is doing very well with leash walking (he prefers an Easy Walk harness over a collar) and even walks alongside a baby stroller well.  He is starting to give signals like ringing a bell hanging on the door knob to let us know that he has to go out and is house broken on a schedule. He is living with 2 cats ans kids ages 1.5 years- 8 years and is generally very good with but still needs reminders to not be mouthy- we trade a toy if he gets too rough. He sleeps in a crate overnight but occasionally doesn’t make it 8 hours overnight without a bathroom break- he is improving each week.  He does well with baths in a tub. Abner is now neutered, up to date with vaccines for his age an microchipped. His adoption fee is $450.00. Story
Our dear Sadie is ready for a forever home to call her own. She is thought to be around 2 years old. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed, has a microchip and overall in great health. She weighs 66 pounds, she needs to gain maybe 10 pounds. Sadie spent her short life in a puppy mill type situation. Sadie is a sweet loving girl. She needs time to trust and move forward. She is timid and shy but that is normal for Berners like Sadie who have spent their lives just having pups. She really does not care for loud male voices, she would do best with more mild manner males. Her forever family should be patient, patient, patient with her. While at the same time work with her to bring her forward a few steps each day. Her adopter will need to teach her all of those pesky house manners. She needs an adopter who will slowly introduce her to the world since it is all new to her. For this reason she is considered a flight risk at this time and requires a yard with 6 ft fencing. Sadie is not a fan of small animals of any shape or type, so no cats, small dogs or any other small animals in the home. She seems to do okay with big dogs. She is currently living with 2 male Berners. She is slowly starting to play with the Berners. She has never lived with small children. Small children will be too much for her to handle. Teenagers should be fine. Once Sadie begins to trust and bond with you, she is a love bug. She will lay with you for hours on the couch for pets. Sadie is a sweet girl who wants to forever home to call her own, one that will work with her and slowly introduce her to the world. We do not transport our Berners. Adopter should plan to travel to Sadie's foster home in Morrisville, PA to pick her up. Her adoption fee is $450.00. If you think Sadie just might be the girl for you, please complete our adoption application and submit to: info@bfwrescue.org.
