Story
Nicholas was pulled on the day of his euthenazia date.  He was not doing well at all at the shelter and was terrified.  But almost immediatley after coming to his foster home, Nicholas relaxed.  He slept in his bed all night relieved. Nicholas is dog and cat friendly. Nicholas is quiet and a bit shy but is coming out of his shell day by day. Foster is working on socialization that will need to be carried over to new owners. Another dog in the home would be extremely helpful for Nicholas. He is fully vaccinated and neutered.   ##1897878##

Story
Meet Barefoot Bella! On March 24th, Barefoot Bella was entrusted to our care through our Final Wish Program after her elderly owner passed away. She was a devoted companion for 20 years, and now finds herself in new surroundings. Fortunately, soon after she arrived, Barefoot Bella was scooped up for a two-week Frosted Fling. She received lots of extra love and care in the comforts of a home, while we learned a lot about her. Bella's Fling Mom shares: "As Bella started to come out of her shell, and we got the cutest nub wags. She loves being outside, as you can tell from her bunny hops (see video) which she does after every potty walk. Bella is totally unfazed by our dogs, and she doesn't mind them saying hi and sniffing. Bella is not one to seek out attention, but last night, I put her on the couch to see if she likes it and she curled right up! She also came up to me in the yard and stood with her head against me to get some pets. When picking Bella up, we would say her name, let her see our hands, then touch her, and then pick her up. Taking it slow helped lessen her flinching. We really enjoyed having Bella at our house, and we cannot express enough how simple it is to take care of her. We are hoping someone with a big heart will step up for Bella." Barefoot Bella currently lives in a foster home but is still on the lookout for a family of her own. Might it be you?

Story
Hello People, My name is Vivi and I’m a sweet and quite sassy little girl of five looking for a forever home. My foster Mom says I’m very loving and affectionate -- and as feminine as they come. I’m all of 12 pounds, am housebroken (and use the doggy door) and I love my crate. I even put myself to bed at night if I’m tired (but Mom lets me come in to the Big People’s Bed in the morning for a cuddle or two or three!) Dad says I’m a diamond in the rough. He and Mom are doing their best to teach me the proper way to behave in the world. I’m definitely making progress but will need to continue my ‘learning’ with someone who is a super smart and VERY savvy dog person. If that sounds like you, please read on! While I am long on (good) looks and cute as can be, I’m also pretty willful. I like to do what I like to do (which is why I need someone who is smarter than I am and will guide me into perfect behaviors.) I walk well on a leash and am learning to relax in the car. I do best on short drives and when I can listen to music. I do love to cuddle and am known for springing up into your lap to cuddle at the slightest provocation and wanting you to pet my head ( but only my head, please!). If you are lying on the sofa, I love to roll on top of you and make cute little "snorty" noises as I turn around. Unfortunately I’m not a pup that is good around children. If you have children or grandchildren that visit I’m not the one for you. Sorry! I’m an ‘adults-only’ kind of pup. Mom says before I became a FurKid I was adopted simply because I am cute. So I formed some bad habits that she is helping me to overcome. Since I’m smart, I’m definitely learning what to do and not do. I’m also a bit selective about making friends. I bark when people come to the door (Dad says I’m a great watchdog) but when I know someone, I’m much friendlier. I also guard my toys, which is why I’m best as the only pup in the house. My Ideal Home: *Someone home most of the time * NO other FurKids--as I like to be the center of attention * Adults only * NO children or grandchildren * Committed to training me Experience level: *Recent dog experience a must! *Rescue dog experience a plus! *Experience with behavioral training a real plus!!! Because I wasn’t successful in my ‘past life’ I’m hoping to make up for lost time – and am looking for adopters who will appreciate my femininity and my affectionate nature – and will continue to work on my training so I can become the best little girl that I can be. Mom says there is no doubt that I’m well worth the effort but you have to know my signals so that I can be successful. If I sound like the pup you are looking for please let us know. It will be a very special home to which I am adopted as I’m a very special kind of pup. If that sounds like you, please send an email explaining your experience and background to bfkapplicants@gmail.com If you sound like you represent a fit, we will be back in touch. Tail wags and cuddles, Vivacious, Intelligent and Very Independent Vivi

Story
Hello World! My name is Cuddly Coco and I’m a cute little guy who is about 3 ½ years old and simply adorable. Now I’m not bragging but everyone that meets me says I’m a ‘cutie patootie’. I’m not exactly sure what that means but my foster Mom says I’m ‘adorbs’ and that everything I do is adorable! Mom says I’m 15 pounds of fun – and so happy that I smile – and wag my tail – all the time (except when I’m lying in your arms and cuddling!) Dad says I’m masterful at lying on my back, looking up at you with my big brown eyes and ‘convincing’ you to rub my back. And since I became a FurKid I have discovered these wonderful and amazing things called toys! I have this small plastic soccer ball and a stuffed rainbow! I like to play Fetch with my soccer ball (I actually bring it back too!) and carry my rainbow around the house with me most of the time. Besides being charming, kind, cuddly, delightful and happy, I’m also obedient, playful and want to please! Sound good? Then please read on! Mom says that I’m equal parts sweet and shy, a darling little guy who just wants to be around you- in your lap, by your side, next to you in bed, on a car ride. As long as I’m with you, I’m fine. Did I mention that I LOVE the car? My best quality is that I’m just a great little friend. (And I promise I’ll be the bestest companion to some lucky person or couple!) While I am shy at first when you meet me the moment a new person sits on the couch I climb all over them and love them up. And then we are instant friends! I’m finding out that there are lots of pretty special human beings in this world that I can like and who like me! I’m learning that love and attention are good things! And did I mention that ONCE I TRUST YOU I’M IN LOVE FOR LIFE? Oh! and I’ve discovered that ear scratches and belly rubs are pretty neat! So sign me up for more of them, please! Dad calls me “Super Glue” because I bonded with him in about two seconds. He says I’m a happy, silly, playful, energetic and social little love bug who wants to participate in all that life has to offer! Did I mention that I’m housebroken (no typo there) and am also learning commands! Why I already come when I’m called (that’s more than some of my bichon cousins do!) and I’m learning “sit.” So if you are looking for a darling pup, with lots of promise, are willing to continue my training (I want to become the best little guy that I can be), are active, home most of the time and like to do lots of things, I'm applying to be your new best friend. My Ideal Home: People who are home most of the time but also active Adopters willing to continue my training Prefer a single person or couple – no children please No other FurKids are required Experience level: Recent/current experience Rescue experience a plus! So if I sound like a pup you’d like to meet, please complete our adoption application. Mom says to tell you that there's something incredibly special about me--almost like I know what you're thinking – and that you couldn't ask for a better companion. Story
Hello World, My name is Huggable Hobie and I’m a darling, handsome and happy little bichon boy of five (and almost 13 pounds soaking wet) who smiles (yes I do!) and talks! (Mom says I’m very communicative and very smart!) Dad says I’m friendly and good natured – and very confident and adaptable! I love short people and tall people and other furkids, too! I simply love and adore everyone. Dad says I’m healthy, active and ready to play. Oh, and did I mention I like to explore also? Checking out the yard or any yard on our walk is great fun for me. Dad says that I’m getting my ‘exercise;’ I say I’m just having fun! And did I mention that I’m quite athletic? I’m able to leap small buildings in a single bound. Oh silly me! That’s what Superman does, not me! Does that make me Super Bichon? Well I AM very agile and graceful! Mom says she loves the way I lay quietly and contentedly next to her while she works on her computer or stops to read a book. She says I’m a major cuddler who is a little goofy, sweet, loyal, fun, a little silly and very smart. I’m housebroken, LOVE to walk and ride in the car, am learning commands and want to please! And did I mention that I’m just the right size to take anywhere? I can travel by train, plane or car and want to be your bestest companion, always! It doesn’t seem possible but just a few weeks ago I lost my family and my home. They weren’t able to care for me, I had lived outside and not been groomed in a long time (as you could see from my shelter picture.) They took me to a shelter and said goodbye – but I got lucky and became a FurKid! Now I’m clean and comfortable and my silky white hair is growing back in. You can probably tell that I’m a resilient little guy. Mom and Dad said to let you know I am also amazingly adaptable pup who is filled only with love-- and just waiting for a family who will love me as much, and as unconditionally, as I will love them! My Ideal Home: *Someone home most of the time *A family or a couple would be lovely * An active lifestyle * No FurKid required but I can certainly get along with one or more Experience level: *Have had pups as an adult Mom says to tell you I’m as handsome as I am gentle... and as mellow as I am cuddly. While I seem to have it all, the one thing that I’m missing is my very own forever family who will love me and care for me always. If that sounds like you please complete our adoption application. Just ask for me by my name! Tail wags and cuddles, Handsome and Huggable Hobie

Story
Age: 8 years old Gender: Male Breed: Shih Tzu mix Weight: 24 lbs Personality: Yuki is wary of strangers but will warm up to people with a bit of chicken and patience on the human's side. Yuki is a mellow guy who loves to nap next to you and lounge in the sun. Yuki is content to sleep the day away near his person but is also up for playing with stuffed animals and fetching! Yuki does well on leash but is quick to warn you that strangers are nearby. He has some barrier frustration, but is generally very easy going once he has warmed up to you. He loves going for car rides and is a great passenger, although drive thru cashiers may be startled at his sudden alerting. Yuki does well with other dogs. He is polite enough to leave old grumpy dogs alone but will play with young energetic pups. He does not resource guard his person, but does show some food guarding tendencies. It would be safest to feed separately. Needs a home with no children or older children who will treat him with respect and give him space as needed. If you have some chicken and just two days of patience, you will be rewarded with so much love. Yuki is an easy dog, he is crate trained, potty trained, and walks well on leash. He is generally a gentle, mellow guy with great house manners. He has a case of stranger danger, but can be redirected when he is reacting. Yuki loves hanging out with his human, but does well when left alone. He will sleep until you return and greet you wholeheartedly. Yuki takes a little bit to warm up to his person, but once you earn his trust, you will find that no one else will look at you with as much love in their eyes as Yuki.  Education: Good with bathroom and leash training Favorite Activities: Napping, cuddling, chewing tags and eyeballs off stuffed animals, fetch, sun bathing. He's also extremely dog friendly Looking for: A sweet person or family who can give him space, be patient with him and respect/ advocate for his boundaries while he learns to trust humans. Ideally older and respectful kids are ok, and so are dogs. Adoption Fee: $ 350 ##1592807##

Story
Akahi has been a part of the family for over 15 years. He has another partner dog and a kitten he currently lives with. He spends his days in the room where his family is at that time lying on one of his many house beds. He loves to sun bathe in the mornings, enjoys car rides from the safety of a pet basket where he can see out the window. He's been on multiple drives to and from Arizona and sleeps most of the time. He's in his senior years now where the easy going life is more ideal for him rather than our fast paced life which isn't able to cater to his needs. We are unfortunately moving in May and need to re home him, as we have already done with his partner dog and kitten just recently. The new home we found is in our budget but does not allow for any pets. He's a great addition to anyone that works from home and just wants a warm body around - he perfectly fits this mold. He's low, low, low maintenance and knows dinner time is at 4pm.
