Story
Hello People, My name is Vivi and I’m a sweet and quite sassy little girl of five looking for a forever home. My foster Mom says I’m very loving and affectionate -- and as feminine as they come. I’m all of 12 pounds, am housebroken (and use the doggy door) and I love my crate. I even put myself to bed at night if I’m tired (but Mom lets me come in to the Big People’s Bed in the morning for a cuddle or two or three!) Dad says I’m a diamond in the rough. He and Mom are doing their best to teach me the proper way to behave in the world. I’m definitely making progress but will need to continue my ‘learning’ with someone who is a super smart and VERY savvy dog person. If that sounds like you, please read on! While I am long on (good) looks and cute as can be, I’m also pretty willful. I like to do what I like to do (which is why I need someone who is smarter than I am and will guide me into perfect behaviors.) I walk well on a leash and am learning to relax in the car. I do best on short drives and when I can listen to music. I do love to cuddle and am known for springing up into your lap to cuddle at the slightest provocation and wanting you to pet my head ( but only my head, please!). If you are lying on the sofa, I love to roll on top of you and make cute little "snorty" noises as I turn around. Unfortunately I’m not a pup that is good around children. If you have children or grandchildren that visit I’m not the one for you. Sorry! I’m an ‘adults-only’ kind of pup. Mom says before I became a FurKid I was adopted simply because I am cute. So I formed some bad habits that she is helping me to overcome. Since I’m smart, I’m definitely learning what to do and not do. I’m also a bit selective about making friends. I bark when people come to the door (Dad says I’m a great watchdog) but when I know someone, I’m much friendlier. I also guard my toys, which is why I’m best as the only pup in the house. My Ideal Home: *Someone home most of the time * NO other FurKids--as I like to be the center of attention * Adults only * NO children or grandchildren * Committed to training me Experience level: *Recent dog experience a must! *Rescue dog experience a plus! *Experience with behavioral training a real plus!!! Because I wasn’t successful in my ‘past life’ I’m hoping to make up for lost time – and am looking for adopters who will appreciate my femininity and my affectionate nature – and will continue to work on my training so I can become the best little girl that I can be. Mom says there is no doubt that I’m well worth the effort but you have to know my signals so that I can be successful. If I sound like the pup you are looking for please let us know. It will be a very special home to which I am adopted as I’m a very special kind of pup. If that sounds like you, please send an email explaining your experience and background to bfkapplicants@gmail.com If you sound like you represent a fit, we will be back in touch. Tail wags and cuddles, Vivacious, Intelligent and Very Independent Vivi

Story
Hi Everybody! My name is Bewitching Bailey and I’m an amazingly adorable Bichon mix of three (years, that is) weighing a mere 8 pounds and as cute as I am affectionate! I’m definitely “cuddle sized” and all about loving my people. I also love walks and rides in the car. In fact, I am the world’s best companion! Well, that is unless you are a giraffe, a hippo or a tiger. I wouldn’t want to be your companion then. (Mom says I’m being a little silly but she knows what I mean!) I’m a lot of fun – a little guy who is a dancer (more on that later) housebroken (that is NOT a typo!), friendly, feisty, playful and protective. Despite my small size I firmly believe that I have to protect my foster family from anyone and anything. Although Dad says I’m a total sweetheart, if I hear a noise outside at night I go into ‘guard dog mode’ as I want to keep everyone inside safe! You can tell that I'm a bit of a character. Oh and did I mention that I’m S-M-A-R-T? Well, Mom has this thing she calls a routine. It all started when one of my doggy foster brothers needed something called ‘remedial potty training.’ It goes like this: We dogs go outside and do our business. Then when we come inside we get a TREAT! Well it took me no time at all to figure out how to do that, you can bet! Since I was already housebroken I figured I could go to the head of the class, I mean line. Oh, and take one of my slower doggy foster brothers treats while I’m there. Well, Mom is pretty smart too… so now I have to wait until they have gotten their treats before I get mine (but Mom thinks I’m pretty clever for figuring that out so fast! And Dad does too!) Now, as for dancing—well I do that for treats too! I’m so darn adorable that the sight of me standing on my legs, twirling around and smiling usually gets me exactly what I want! Other things that I do that Mom and Dad love are that I follow them around like a shadow, give lots of kisses, am energetic but pretty chill most of the day. And when it comes to playing, I can chase my tail (and I will catch it one of these days too. I’ve come very, very close already!) During the day I like to sleep either next to you on the couch or in my bed near you while you work. And after a day of playing and chilling I sleep with Mom, Dad and their pups in the Big People’s bed and am quiet all night long. My Ideal Home: *Someone home most of the time *A couple or family *Perhaps another young FurKid or I might be an ‘only’ *Adults or a family with kids over 12 Experience level: *Have had dogs as an adult * Recent experience with a young, active pup a plus I’m loyal, sweet and loving. The only thing that I need right now is a forever family to call my own. Do I sound like your kind of guy? I’m awfully good at a lot of things and I’m waiting to be yours. So please complete our application and ask for me. Love and cuddles Bailey the Bandit (‘cause I’ll steal your heart)

Story
My name is BEATRIX and I am a sweet 2 month old, female Bichon mix. My foster mom describes me as playful and good with kids and adults. I will be a small breed dog once fully grown. I LOVE being held and cuddled. I also enjoy being around people and am looking for a home with a family who is home more often than not. I'm a shy around dogs I don't know but will warm up to them with time. I will need a family that is willing to take me through my puppy classes and fully train me to be a calm, obedient, and well socialized doggie. My Adoption fee is $450 and includes spay/neuter, microchip and current vaccinations. Story
Nicholas was pulled on the day of his euthenazia date.  He was not doing well at all at the shelter and was terrified.  But almost immediatley after coming to his foster home, Nicholas relaxed.  He slept in his bed all night relieved. Nicholas is dog and cat friendly. Nicholas is quiet and a bit shy but is coming out of his shell day by day. Foster is working on socialization that will need to be carried over to new owners. Another dog in the home would be extremely helpful for Nicholas. He is fully vaccinated and neutered.   ##1897878##

Story
Meet Barefoot Bella! On March 24th, Barefoot Bella was entrusted to our care through our Final Wish Program after her elderly owner passed away. She was a devoted companion for 20 years, and now finds herself in new surroundings. Fortunately, soon after she arrived, Barefoot Bella was scooped up for a two-week Frosted Fling. She received lots of extra love and care in the comforts of a home, while we learned a lot about her. Bella's Fling Mom shares: "As Bella started to come out of her shell, and we got the cutest nub wags. She loves being outside, as you can tell from her bunny hops (see video) which she does after every potty walk. Bella is totally unfazed by our dogs, and she doesn't mind them saying hi and sniffing. Bella is not one to seek out attention, but last night, I put her on the couch to see if she likes it and she curled right up! She also came up to me in the yard and stood with her head against me to get some pets. When picking Bella up, we would say her name, let her see our hands, then touch her, and then pick her up. Taking it slow helped lessen her flinching. We really enjoyed having Bella at our house, and we cannot express enough how simple it is to take care of her. We are hoping someone with a big heart will step up for Bella." Barefoot Bella currently lives in a foster home but is still on the lookout for a family of her own. Might it be you?
