Story
FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60625 ESTIMATED DOB: 2016 WEIGHT: 16 lbs KIDS: Likely DOGS: Yes CATS: Unknown HISTORY: Ash came to us from a Suburban Animal Control facility where he was brought as a stray. ABOUT: Do you have a pretty good sense of humor? Yes? Ok, you can keep reading. Ash is incredibly sweet, very affectionate, loyal, and was likely raised by raccoons. Opened the dishwasher? He is going to get in it to lick the dishes. Leave the cabinet open with the garbage can? He will tip it over the second you turn your back. Did you leave dirty clothes on the floor? He will act like he doesn’t see it and then at the last second will grab them and run. (He has a particular fondness for sweaty baseball caps, shoes, and unmentionables.) Is it raining outside? He will happily prance towards the door and then at the last second turn and dart the other direction. Open a cabinet door or drawer? He is going to look in it. Ash + Unattended Sandwich = zero sandwiches. Now that we are past the racoon part: Ash absolutely LOVES attention and will happily spend endless time sitting next to you on the couch. As affectionate as he is, Ash is not pesty. He rarely bothers you for attention and he won’t get into your lap (but he is happy to be there if you put him there.) Somewhere along the line Ash learned a super cute trick - he will sit up on his back legs and do “party paws” to get your attention. It works 100% of the time. You cannot see his party paws and NOT pet him. It’s purely impossible, don’t even try to resist. (Admittedly, he doesn’t do this as much as he used to, probably because his fosters pet him all the time and he doesn’t have to work for it.) How does Ash feel about getting adopted: Ash loves you so much (it doesn’t matter that he doesn’t know you yet) and also, can he sleep in bed with you? Ash is not a high energy dog, but he is also not a bump on a log. He enjoys walks on leash -the first half a block he needs to stop and sniff everything, but then he gets going a little more after that. Around the house Ash will follow you everywhere, so much that you do need to keep an eye out as he has a tendency to get under your feet and get stepped on quite a bit. He has had his paws stepped on 496 times, and still has not learned a lesson and does not care. If you leave the bathroom door open while you shower he is probably going to nap on the mat or peek around the curtain at you. Ash is currently being fostered with large and small breed dogs. He has done really well with them since day one. - Including the addition of a new dog after he arrived. He doesn’t ever choose to curl up and sleep with either of them, but he doesn’t avoid them in any way. Ash would do fine with other dogs, but he would also do great as an only. He desperately wants the new dog to play with him, but the new dog is an older senior and he has no interest in playing. This doesn’t stop Ash from trying to initiate. Ash would also be equally happy as an only dog as he would probably LOVE to be the center of attention. Every once in a while he’ll try to be the boss and tell the other dogs they can’t get on the bed or he will inform them they have walked too close if he is on your lap. But he has no teeth and they don’t even bother to listen to him. We expect Ash would be tolerant of respectful children, especially ones with gentle pets. We don’t have any experience with him meeting any cats to know how he feels about them. Ash is not crated while his foster parents are at work and has never caused any mischief except the occasional accident. Ash is fairly well housetrained, but he does sometimes take a while to find a good spot outside. If you don’t let him find it outside, he will eventually find it inside. He will do his best if he is given enough time outside, and frequent trips if he hasn’t gone. His accidents inside have increased since the addition of an intact male to the home. Ash likes company when he goes outside to potty, so you should anticipate going with him if you have a fenced yard. Ash won’t ask to go outside but he typically gets the zoomies when he needs to go. Ash has a habit of pooping 1 second after he is done with his meals. Because his foster has multiple dogs, they can’t get to him the second he swallows his last bite - so he typically poops in the bathroom as that is his “assigned” eating spot. If we’re honest….this isn’t a miserable arrangement. The poo goes in the toilet and the floor gets wiped up. His foster did recently notice that Ash sits at the door most of the time when they leave in the evening. He doesn’t bark or cry, but he does seem to hold vigil until you return even if it is hours. He might like a nice bed right next to the door to make him a little more comfortable as he waits for the best people in the world (you) to return. It seems that Ash has some pretty significant allergies. He is currently on both the Cytopoint injection and Apoquel oral medication. His allergies were not this significant initially, so there is possibly a seasonal component. Ash has no teeth, so his foster home soaks his kibble to make it easier for him to eat. We guess Ash is between 8-10 years old and his curly tail tells us he is probably a Bichon Frise. We listed him as a Bichon and Poodle mix to appeal to people who are just looking for a curly coated white dog. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact FKe for more information about this pet. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   Daisy is a 7 year old female Bichon who weighs in at 12 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $450.  If you are still interested, please read more below. Daisy spent her life in a puppy mill. She is gradually learning about the ways of the world outside of the only life she knew. Daisy is looking for a patient home where she can have the time to adjust and bond with her human(s).  If given a patient, gentle, kind approach Daisy can form an attachment to you. She is a dainty, affectionate girl who wants to come to you on her terms and then likes to be the main recipient of your attention. She will likely do ok with another small dog who will be submissive to her – like being willing to give up their spot by the human if Daisy would like it. Daisy is afraid of the larger dogs in her foster’s neighborhood. She liked other small rescued dogs. Daisy is not a fan of being picked up, so ARF requests no young children. She is timid with any new people but will follow her humans everywhere and sought out pets after the first week or two in her foster home. Daisy does not understand the outside world is for potty.  To her it is a scary place with many unfamiliar noises.  In her foster home with hardwood floors, she reliably used potty pads. In a foster home with carpet, this has been more challenging. Her foster is working on potty training and this will be an ongoing training for any adopter. Daisy enjoys sitting inside in the sun and looking out the window. She has recently learned how to do stairs. Do you have it in your heart to open your home to Daisy?  If you do, in time she will become your loyal companion! Daisy is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and spayed.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.  Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop! July 16, 2025, 9:15 pm

Story
Jordan is a delightful Bichon Frise puppy! He is a bouncy happy little fella. He will delight you and keep you smiling. He was born in a commercial breeding facility and had not been exposed to the same things a puppy born in your home has. However, he is adjusting very well and will blossom in his own family. Like all puppies, he will need structure and a patient, loving home. We recommend training for all puppies—not only to give Jordan important learning skills, but because you and your puppy will create a stronger bond just by going through the training together. Jordan is fully vetted. He has been neutered, received age-appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped. Subsequent vaccines will be at the expense of his adopter. His adoption donation is $1200..00. He is on the hunt for his own completely committed family. Little dogs can live to be 20+ years old, so Liam wants to be sure his family is all in for better or for worse! IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 12 MONTHS): You must have a very flexible work schedule or someone home all day. Puppies need to be let out to potty often. They need socialization, bonding, and training (housetraining and behavioral training). If you work long hours, have a busy social schedule, or are not financially secure, then a puppy is not for you. We adopt in and to the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits. If you would like to apply to be considered as an adoption candidate, please fill out an application for adoption on our website at: https://www.rescuetailsanimalwelfare.org/info/adoption We are all volunteers with full-time jobs. Story
This is Amy, a friendly shih tzu mix born on 10/30/2024. She weighs 15 lbs. She is great with other dogs and loves being held. She was found as a stray and then came into our rescue. Amy sometimes gets scared, so she needs a patient dog lover who will give her time to decompress and continue to learn to live in a home. We believe she had been living in a backyard. She will jump onto the couch to be near you and wants to be petted. She is housebroken. Amy would do best in a home with another dog since she does have separation anxiety. Amy is spayed, up to date on shots, heart-worm tested negative, de-wormed, and micro-chipped. If you're interested in adopting, please fill out an application here: https://tinyurl.com/4u3tuy5c Due to the high volume of applications, our Adoption Coordinator will only contact the applicant that best meets the needs of the pet. Story
Mary is a 4 year old Maltese ready to find a great home! Mary was surrendered by family after the owner passed away in December of 2024. Unfortunately, scant details were provided about her. What we do know for certain is that she is young(er), was in poor condition (flea infestations), pancaked over thresholds, and was woefully under socialized. The really great news is that she is blossoming with good care, good food and a whole lot of love! Given Mary’s proclivity for running zoomies, jumping on furniture and dogs, she is very much a puppy. Our best guess is no more than two years of age. Despite the joy and zest with which Mary greets life, she is timid. Mary expects for you to hit her when she is approached. She will immediately pancake to the floor, cowering. When she first arrived in foster care, Mary suffered two seizures which were most likely precipitated by the stress of constantly moving homes. Mary is on a vet approved protocol of CBD for seizures and has not suffered any additional seizures since. Mary is now house trained and is able to eat her food and digest without throwing everything up an hour after a meal. Mary, all sweetness and youth, acts as if her world is unsafe. She will require a home that is able help her become relaxed with knowing she is loved. Mary must have a very secure fenced yard as she is a runner and will jump and run at a moment’s notice. Mary will do okay as an only dog but would do best with an active household with a confident, patient dog to teach Mary the ropes. Mary will bully a timid dog as she plays rough and pushes the limit. Mary is wary of a harness and allows one to be fitted but is still a scrambler on a leash. She is smart and will learn this in time. Mary is up to date on shots, spayed, de-wormed, micro-chipped and fecal tested negative. She also recently got a dental cleaning.
