Story
Meet Romy, an almost 5 year-old Bichon Frise with a heart full of potential and a past that's slowly becoming a memory. Once a puppy mill mom, Romy is now learning what it means to be in a safe place full of patience and love. She's nervous around new people and situations as she navigates how to "dog." Everything in the dog world is new to her - treats, leashes, toys, the outdoors, but she is discovering the cozy comforts of the couch and the excitement of being in the sunshine. She enjoys her furry foster friends and follows her foster mom from room to room. Romy does need a fenced-in yard and another social dog in the home to help her build confidence. She's looking for a patient person or family who will guide her through this new chapter with kindness and understanding. If you have a gentle heart and are ready to give a puppy mill momma a fresh start, Romy is the girl for you. Romy is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $300.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Kieran! Kieran is a 5-year-old, 22-pound Bichon Frise. Kieran is a rescue from a puppy mill, and as such, is fairly skittish around people. She is fostered with other dogs her size and does well with them! Kieran is still trying to figure out what a dog is supposed to do, as leash walking, treats, and playing are all new to her. She will need a calm, patient household to help her blossom. An adopter with another confident dog would be helpful. Are you the white knight wanting to rescue this damsel in distress? Kieran is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $300. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. Story
Meet Billie! Billie is a female, 6 year old Bichon Frise who weighs 13 pounds. She was recently rescued from a puppy mill and is still learning what the good life is all about! Billie is sweet, calm and gentle! She is slowly starting to become more comfortable in her foster home and needs a patient adopter who will continue to show her that humans are kind. Billie loves napping in her cozy dog bed and watching the world around her, she also enjoys tasting yummy treats! She has started to show trust and affection towards her foster parents, and wags her little tail when she sees them. For a girl who is scared of the world around her - this is huge progress! She is fostered with a 50 pound dog who she seeks comfort from his presence, though she can also be independent! She is also fostered with a cat. Billie would do best in a calm and quiet environment as she gets spooked by sudden/loud noises and quick movements. Billie tolerates being picked up and carried, and enjoys pets and belly scratches. She is not yet house trained but is practicing. This girl is low energy and is unsure on leash, so she will need a fenced-in backyard to safely explore. Billie is currently being fostered in Cincinnati, OH. Her adoption fee is $450. Story
Popcorn is about 18 lbs., 14 years old and according to Google lens, a West highland terrier. Animal Care Services thought he was a Maltese mix and foster mom thinks he could be a Schnauzer/Maltese mix but knows for sure that he is the cutest scruffy EVER!!! His journey hasn't been all snuggles and treats as he lived on someone's apartment patio for years, lying in poop, grass and other debris until Animal Care Services came for him and God's Dogs Rescue was able to save the little scamp. While he still loves his humans, other gentle pups his size (cats unknown) and his squishy toys and chewy, understandably he has a few emotional scars especially regarding vet visits and grooming. Slow, patient progress in these areas has helped him be more confident, but will need a patient adopter to help him adapt. Things that make Popcorn super happy are spending time with his humans after he gets to know them, car rides and walks in the park. He loves, loves his squishy toys and generally carries one around with him. His most favorite game is for his person to chase him and pretend to take his squishy away. He also like to run zooms and if there isn't a person to play with he will often throw his toys for himself. Doesn't that just make you want to throw his stuffies so he can play?? He's a healthy guy for his age with just a few old man issues (beginnings of cataracts) that he takes supplements for and should continue taking. His liver enzymes were high when tested but he is on a med to help them normalize. Can you give this boy the right lap to live in?? He needs very patient/knowledgeable adopters, no children- adult only because he will bite if afraid... It is a work in progress but he is becoming the goofy boy he was meant to be while living on the nasty hot and freezing porch for most of his 14 yrs :( GIVE HIM A CHANCE!!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Look at this happy boy. Banjo is a character. He is very friendly, likes being out in the play yard, and loves getting attention from our volunteers. It appears Banjo has not had access to food all the time.  He can be food aggressive with other dogs.  He has not shown any aggression to humans.  He is good with small dogs, but can be pushy with large dogs.   This is Banjo's second time with us.  The first time we fully vetted him after he was found on the streets.  We attempted to find his owners for almost two months.  When we put him up for adoption, they came forward.  We released him only to get a call from ACS a year later indicating he was on the streets again.  They held him until his hold time was up and we were given ownership.   We did talk to the previous owners.  They were homeless and had been jailed for trespassing.  They still did not have a stable home and we would not release the dog again.  It was not a safe life for Banjo.    Banjo was born around 08/23/2022 and weighs 21.6 pounds.  His adoption fee is $400 , If you are interested in him, please go to our website www.adoggie4you.org and complete an application.  This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225. We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.
