Story
Meet Romy, an almost 5 year-old Bichon Frise with a heart full of potential and a past that's slowly becoming a memory. Once a puppy mill mom, Romy is now learning what it means to be in a safe place full of patience and love. She's nervous around new people and situations as she navigates how to "dog." Everything in the dog world is new to her - treats, leashes, toys, the outdoors, but she is discovering the cozy comforts of the couch and the excitement of being in the sunshine. She enjoys her furry foster friends and follows her foster mom from room to room. Romy does need a fenced-in yard and another social dog in the home to help her build confidence. She's looking for a patient person or family who will guide her through this new chapter with kindness and understanding. If you have a gentle heart and are ready to give a puppy mill momma a fresh start, Romy is the girl for you. Romy is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $300.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Kieran! Kieran is a 5-year-old, 22-pound Bichon Frise. Kieran is a rescue from a puppy mill, and as such, is fairly skittish around people. She is fostered with other dogs her size and does well with them! Kieran is still trying to figure out what a dog is supposed to do, as leash walking, treats, and playing are all new to her. She will need a calm, patient household to help her blossom. An adopter with another confident dog would be helpful but not necessary. Are you the white knight wanting to rescue this damsel in distress? Kieran is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $300. Kieran is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. Story
Meet Russell! Russell is an almost 12 year old shihtzu. He is your classic old man, a very lazy guy who can be a bit grumpy, but is harmless (and toothless).    Russell has some senior guy medical issues. He does have a heart murmur that requires 3 pills a day, so he’ll need someone that can afford his medications and keep up with the occasional echocardiogram to check on his heart. He is also a very picky eater with a sensitive stomach, not uncommon of a guy his age, and it’s hard to find things he likes to keep weight on him. He is still underweight.    Despite his quirks, Russell is a sweet gentleman and foster mom loves him to pieces. To his person, he is as loyal as they come. He will follow you everywhere. He doesn’t love cuddles but he loves to stay close to you. He would prefer a low key, quiet home where he can nap without much interruption. He isn’t a good fit for rowdy dogs or small children. Russell doesn’t need much attention but he prefers to be around his person all the time. His perfect situation would be a very relaxed home where his person can be home with him most of the time. He deserves to be loved and adored for all the time he has left.September 17, 2024, 9:20 pm

Surprise! She’s listed as a shihtzu/terrier mix, but arrived looking more like a Cairn terrier mix. One thing that hasn’t changed is she’s 100% Adorable! Winnie loves to be with her person and is happy to be the fun police. Lol! It’s the mommy in her, just trying to keep order.        She’s getting along with pups from 3 months old to 15 years old.        Sleeps in bed with the pack after only a few days of decompressing.    Completely potty trained.    Has been crated for 4 1/2 hours (and overnight to sleep when she first arrived).  Such a good, sweet girl!   Unknown on cats-let us know if you’d like us to test her. September 17, 2024, 9:20 pm

Story
BONDED PAIR, MUST ADOPT BOTH Hi. I'm Bitzee, a 9 y/o golden/white female shitsu. I'm part of a bonded pair with my 13 y/o chi mix Judah Chase. You see, our owner had to go into hospice care and it broke her heart to give us up. She made the rescue lady promise to adopt us together as we have always lived in the same household and don't know any different. My brother and I get along very well and it is kind of like getting 2 for the price of 1. I am currently about 4 pounds overweight ( currently 14 pounds) but foster Mom is diligently working on that with me. Despite being overweight, I am playful and like to go for walks. I had previously lived in an apartment and hadn't been able to get much exercise because of my owner's health. I had been going potty on potty pads but am now learning to go outside through the doggy door. My brother has already mastered the doggy door and I should soon. I like to go for car rides and am kennel trained. I am able to be kept unkenneled without being destructive and am not a huge barker. I am extremely loyal and like to follow my human around. I am good with children and other small dogs. It is unknown as to how I would do with large dogs or cats since foster mom doesn't have either. So, if you are interested in a bonded pair of small dogs, have your peeps contact my peeps and let's get this love fest started. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
