Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. UPDATE: Nala is a bit standoffish when she first meets people, she is more comfortable with women than men but still growls and barks when meeting any new people, we are working on socialization skills. She is also doing well with house training but she is  potty pad trained and still uses them from time to time .  Nala is the kind of gal that once she loves you she is yours and prefers to be only yours! I believe Nala would do best with no dogs in the home as she lived in a home with four other dogs and really does prefer one-on-one attention. Preferably only older children that are not loud or no children at all. She loves to play ball, and is currently learning to bring it back to you! Nala does tend to bark a lot when you leave her so probably no apartments, Condominiums, or duplexes for her. I also prefer a fenced yard as as Nala gets the zoomies and loves to run! She also does not have the best recall if she is chasing a bird or squirrel and bunnies! I am still learning more about her as times goes on.  UPDATE: Nala is a Bichon Frise,  3 years old and potty pad trained . So far she's a wonderful lap dog and loves to play with toys. Meet the Quartet of Cuteness!   Nala, Bella Olaf and Big Mac aka Max are all Bichon Frise / Maltese mixes.  They may be a mom, dad and two offspring but we aren't certain.  What we do know is they all came from the same home.  Their owner died and the family was unable to keep them.  Each one has a distinct personality:  Bella is described as an 'attention hog', while Nala is more laid back and will not seek attention, but if you are willing to give it she will happily accept it.  Big Mac aka Max seems more outgoing than Olaf, who prefers at this point to 'observe' his world.  All are said to be good with other dogs and children. All will need time to adjust to a new home and routine.  Even though they are said to be good with other dogs and children, they have only lived together, so all will need slow and proper introductions to children and other dogs.  We don't know how they are with cats.  They all need basic training, including potty training.  Vet appointments for needed vaccines and spay/neuter are being done soon.  Because of their breed, each will require ongoing grooming, an additional cost to consider. We know these littles won't be with us for long so if interested in adopting any of them please apply soon.     Happy Days Dog & Cat Rescue requires a Spay/Neuter Contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization at the time of adoption. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. HDDCR holds a deposit [$50 for dogs, $25 for cats] in addition to the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog or cat was spayed/neutered by the date stipulated on the Spay/Neuter Contract. The deposit will be refunded to the adopter if spay/neuter was done according to the Spay/Neuter Contract signed by the adopter. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee, paid at the time of adoption.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
Meet Bernie! If you've been searching for a cheerful little sidekick who's always ready for life's next adventure, Bernie may just be your perfect match! This handsome 2-year-old Bichon Frise and Miniature Poodle mix (our best guess) weighs in at a petite 11 pounds, making him the perfect size for everything from neighborhood strolls to cozy movie nights on the couch. Bernie entered our care as a stray with a microchip that unfortunately was never registered, and despite every effort to locate his family, no one ever came looking for him. Now he's ready to leave his past behind and find the forever home he has always deserved. Bernie is the kind of dog who seems to make friends wherever he goes. He has a sweet, happy-go-lucky personality and genuinely enjoys meeting new people. Whether you're introducing him to friends, taking him on an outing, or simply spending time together at home, Bernie is happiest when he's with his people. He also rides wonderfully in the car, making him an excellent companion for road trips, pup cups, or tagging along on your daily errands. In his foster home, Bernie has done well with other dogs and hasn't shown any concern around cats. He would likely do well with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with a small dog. This fluffy little gentleman has also proven himself to be quite the well-mannered houseguest. He is crate trained, has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners, and enjoys getting out for walks where he can explore the neighborhood one sniff at a time. Like many Bichon Frise and Poodle mixes, Bernie will require regular professional grooming and routine coat maintenance at home. When he arrived, his coat had become quite overgrown and matted, so his future family should be prepared to keep up with regular brushing and grooming appointments to ensure he stays comfortable, healthy, and looking his very best. Bernie has left his stray days behind and is ready to begin the next chapter of his life with a family who will cherish him, spoil him just a little (okay... maybe a lot), and love him unconditionally. In return, he'll reward you with endless companionship, a happy little tail wag, and enough love to brighten even the toughest days. If you're ready to welcome this fluffy little gentleman into your heart and home, Bernie is ready to love you furever.: Bernie is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedScheduled for grooming (included in the adoption fee)Scheduled for neuter at our partner Veterinary office (included in the adoption fee).ADOPTION FEE: $400 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS. ##2794434##

Story
I purchased two shih-chon mixed puppies; they are brothers and were the last of their litter. I obtained them from a breeder in Indiana, MI. They have always been together. They are 3 years old. They need a loving home with a lot of attention. I work a lot and don't have the time or energy to give them the time they deserve. They don't travel well, they easily get car sick. They have been that way since day one. I have a groomer come to my home because of the car sickness. They eat a special food called (4 Health) Salmon and potato. Their food is purchased from Tractor Supply. They love carrots for snacks.

Story
!!Meet Hobbes!! After meeting with multiple applicants and even being adopted briefly, we've discovered that while people find Hobbes adorable, we may need to clarify a few things a bit more strongly. Hobbes was surrendered after spending his first year in a home that offered little structure or attention. He was part of a litter meant to be sold by a casual breeder, then left behind with an elderly family member when it wasn't as easy as they thought it would be. Hobbes had never even been given a name during that first year. Despite his beginning, he's a very intelligent and affectionate dog who gets along so well with all other animals. He will need a home committed to continuing normal training and socialization though. And he may take time to warm up to new people. Due to his young age, Hobbes has his active spurts (zoomies), but also LOVES couch time next to his human friends. While he's inherently a very good natured dog, he is nervous with strangers and can remain that way until he gets to know someone. He is completely worth the time and warms up quickly, but an effort has to be put forth to get to that step. His first experience with housetraining, walking with a leash on, and meaningful interaction with people began in his foster home about two months ago. Hobbes picked up leash walking quickly, but will still run circles around you and get his leash twisted up, which may in turn startle him. He is picking up housetraining, but will still have accidents in the house if his cue isn't noticed right away. ** The biggest impediment to his adoption though, is that he experiences separation anxiety when left kenneled and he knows people are home. His reaction to being without humans is constant barking which will resolve after about 15 minutes, until he realizes people are back home. This can become an issue quickly in an apartment or situation where neighbors are close. A new home would have to continue to work with him. Lastly, Hoobes is a Shih Tzu mix. He looks like a Shih, but with longer legs and a longer body. His coat will need periodic grooming (4 times a year minimum) and he may need a mild sedative from his veterinarian prior to each appointment until he becomes more comfortable with it all. He is neutered, heartworm tested and vaccinated. Appointments to meet him will be scheduled for those who apply to adopt him once it's established the home may be a good fit for him. What your adoption fee also includes is housetraining, leash walking and a good understanding of the kind of home each dog would thrive in. ADOPTION FEE: $ 150 "People who say money can't buy you happiness, have never paid an adoption fee...."
